Sports Bars in Edm

Looks like I have to be in disgusting Edmonton next Saturday, ugh. I was looking forward to watching the Flames/Leafs game at home in front of my own TV but that's not going to happen.

Any decent sports bars with HD screens that do not smell of urine in that town?

fargo's, but it's - uh - pretty oilers friendly.

there's some decent holes-in-the-wall on whyte ave up byt the residential areas, one around (i think) 95th street.

The bar on campus called Scholars (previously the Library) used to fairly Flames friendly because there were tons of people living on rez around there from Calgary, but when I was here a few weeks ago I noticed that the name had changed to Hudson's.. which I think might be a chain of bars, not sure if that will make a difference to the flames tolerant atmosphere.

Yeah, Scholars/The Library used to be fairly Flames friendly. I haven't been there for a game yet this year, so I'm not sure if that's still the case. The TVs there aren't that great. It's probably your best shot, though.

And, yes, Hudsons is a chain of pubs up here in the 'chuck. Even though they bought Scholars, they've only barely changed the inside. A lot of people go to the Hudsons on Whyte to watch games, but I would definitely avoid it as a Flames fan. It's a bit like Melrose was to the Red Mile.

I went to Schanks (by West Ed) a few times last year, but only during the playoff run. There were always a good 20-30 Flames fans there, grouped together. I doubt as many go during the regular season, though.

Unfortunately, I think you're pretty much SOL in Edmonton. There's an Oiler bar in Calgary - why not a Flames bar in Edmonton? Those of us going to school are dying up here.
