Travel to the United States
Time to access the infinite wisdom of CP again....
I'm making a trip down the good ol' USA come December and I'm trying to remember the whole customs thing....what airport do I go through customs at? For example, I fly from Calgary to Minneapolis and than Minneapolis to Nashville. I'd presume I'd them in Minneapolis or Calgary? I guess my concern is on the way back, I go Nashville/Denver, Denver/Calgary....I only have an hour waitover in Denver, is that when I have to go through customs/immigration?
So confused.
Help...someone...

Correct. You would do customs at your starting point(on your way to the US: so in Calgary) and ending point(coming back from the US: so in Calgary).

A word of warning.....
an hour layover at DIA is not enough time. You'll have to rush to catch your plane to Calgary. Been there, done that.

And do not be lured in by the smell of fresh baked Cinabons. Walk right on by, do not stop!

There will be no security checks on the layovers so the only thing you have to worry about is your first plane being delayed. Quick tip is to look at the manual in the back of seat, There is most likely a map of the terminals in it and you can see what gate your landing at and the gate you need to goto when you arrive. And make a plan of attack.
Customs will happen on the Calgary Side on the way there and the way home. If your flight is early in Calgary go early because the line can get massive.
Denver isn't as bad as you think. I once had to make a connection in 22min a terminal over. It is easy.
Once you get off, make hightail for the center (Walk on the moving walkways and it will be like you are running with out all the work. Once you make the center atrium hit the stairs down to the trams. Hop on the tram you need and it should only take a few min. From there follow the same procedure to the gate you need.

If your stopover is at MSP, look for "Maui Tacos".

If your first plane is delayed or you are really concerned about it, tell your flight attendant and they might be able to get you off the plane before everyone else.

Oh by the way I guess I messed up my itinerary...it's Calgary/Denver, denver/nashville (with a two hour layover, which fixes that problem) however, on the way back, it's Nashville/Chicago, Chicago/Calgary...that's where I have 58 minutes. Hmmm that could be interesting.

No, I mean DIA.
Denver International Airport.
DIA is the three letter code.

You guys might be right.
It's commonly referred to as DIA in the Denver area though. That's why I assumed that it was the actual code.

Still, to the original post I made, DIA is still appropriate because it refers to the airport.
So there!

I haven't flown through Chicago.
I'm pretty sure it is the second busiest in the US. DIA is something like 6th.
Atlanta's Hartsfield Int'l is the busiest.
No idea of the layout of O'Hare or how tough it is to get around in. Someone here will know though.

Hmm I just did a quick google search and it seems like I should just have to stick in Terminal 1 in O'hare since I'm flying with united and both United domestic and international flights are from that terminal.
I guess I'll find out in a few months....thanks guys for all your help.
