Question Anyone use Telus TV service?

Does anyone here use Telus TV? We received a call from Telus trying to convince us to switch and the package seems to be cheaper than Shaw...but how good is Telus TV?

I've heard many BAD things about Telus TV... Apparently, internet slows down dramatically if u watch TV and surf at the same time... TV also lags... I have never tried it, but my family friend who is a telus employee has... and those are his opinions..

well a friend of mine at work here at Shaw has TelusTV footed by the company to see what it's about, and from personal experience i can tell you it just isn't worth it (and this isn't bias talking, i'm not too enamoured with Shaw lately either). maximum of 2 TV's, each one used halving your internet bandwidth. switching channels can literally take up to 10 seconds, picture quality can be pixelated at times, no HD content, no PPV options, and you are required to be a Telus phone and internet subscriber before being able to get their TV service

personally, when i am no longer an employee of Shaw, i will likely go with Bell satellite TV, Shaw internet, and Telus home phone if i decide to not just use my cell for everything

The no HD is bad, but I like the package options. If you don't watch a lot of tv, and have limited requirements, it's fantastic. The lag never bothered me it just wasn't that bad, and we had two computers while we had the service and it was fine, IMO.

As I said, the packages are the best part. For example, if you want TLC, and Home and Garden, and the NHL Network, you can put the NHL Network onto the popular choices package, and drop off Court TV... or whichever you want to drop. Some channels you can't swap around, but I know you can swap the NHL Network onto whichever package you want. That way, you don't have to buy a whole new group of 7 channels just to get one of them. It's a real $ saver.

Frankly, I don't have an HDTV, nor am I a channel surfer so lag issues never bothered me at all.

they simply don't have the bandwidth to offer HD as it stands right now. with ADSL2 they might be able to start offering a bit, but i just can't see how a phone line is going to be able to compete with cable or satellite for offering HD content that sucks up a lot of bandwidth

That word says it all. Telus doesn't have enough. The big noticable with that will be if you happen to watch sports; you will see compression artifacts all over the place during the fast moving action. And with this being a sports based forum; I can't see anybody here being happy with it.

Go to the Chinook Telus store during a football game and change the channel. You'll see it.
