Little Known Comedians
Now we all know that some of the best comedians are not on the big stage yet... so let's hear about some of them
I personally saw this guy over the summer in Calgary named Michael Kosta. Very funny guy, good interaction with the crowd... The website has a 7 minutes film of a show.
www.michaelkosta.com
Any more that we should know about?

I agree with all of AnthonyCook's choices... Didn't know Mitch Hedberg had died, Russell Peters is good, seems to be getting more notoriety nowadays... I like Jeremy Hotz, although his voice or his style sometimes annoys people. He might be an acquired taste...I love Dane Cook, although he is really popular right now, his old clips from Just for Laughs are pretty good.

I have to say, I don't know many comedians, but I love Margaret Cho.
Oh my God. My friend popped in her dvd last year and I swear, I nearly peed myself.

The whole Bill Hicks vs. Dennis Leary story is fascinating. I saw a clip somewhere of Joe Rogan just going OFF about Dennis Leary ripping everything off from Bill. It was hilarious.

One guy who I enjoy listening to is Russell Peters. He is Canadian and is quite funny.

Norm Macdonald, widely known from his time on SNL and that crappy sitcom, is a fantastic stand-up comedion and apparently his new albumn is gold. In fact, amazon has a special offer right now where you can order his new albumn and get a discount on a Mitch Hedberg one. Can't go wrong with that!

Have you seen the clip of Norm MacDonald talking to John Stewart about Steve Irwins death? Oh man, I hate to laugh because a great guy died, but Norm hits the nail on the head in that clip.

David Cross is very funny. Brilliant on Arrested Development. I love his open letter to "Larry the Cable Guy" (who is not funny).

Norm Macdonald is awesome. New CD is hit and miss. His funniest moments are when he guests on Conan and Jon Stewart or other talk shows.
Too soon to talk about the crocodile hunter?

You guys would not believe, or maybe you would, how many people simply don't get Norm. He was one of my favorites on SNL but a lot of people couldn't stand him.

Speaking of SNL alums....
I had the pleasure of seeing Adam Sandler to stand up before he was famous. He was still on the MTV game show Remote Control at the time or just off of it. Hadn't had a sniff at SNL yet. Absolutely killed me. This was the fall of '89. He was very, very funny.

Mitch Hedberg's one of my faves. Mitch Fatel is really good too, huge fan of him (saw him live, and Michael Kosta opened for him, damn funny guy too) Russell Peters of course. Stephen Lynch (comedic songs) is really funny (he toured with Mitch Hedberg for a while before he passed). There's a buncha good ones out there.

Norm is great too bad his show was cancelled.
Some of my favorite not so well known comedians are Jeremy Hotz, seen him on comedy central a few times, and Ricky Gervais. He is hilarious and really popular over in the UK.

not too aware of this conflict myself, maybe due to the fact that hicks died in 1994 or so just as leary got huge.
another guy that most people i talk to aren't aware of as far as being a funny comedian - bob saget.
jon wing used to be on conan a lot, he's pretty clever too.

well, funny but VERY crude. and yes that sounds wierd.
he had the sickest joke on 'the aristocrats', he kept breaking down it was so horrific.
he directed 'dirty work' and has a HILARIOUS cameo on 'half-baked'.
doesn't quite jive with america's funniest home videos or full house, i know... very bizarre.

My wife saw Norm MacDonald on a talk show right around the time the USA was going to invade Iraq and Canada wasn't going to help. Apparantly, Norm was pretty upset about that and said he was going to renounce his Canadian citizenship. I wonder what happened after? Is he still Canadian? I still find him very funny but whenever his name is mentioned I always think about that...
I heard that Bob Saget's stand up stuff is nothing at all like his Full House character. Very dirty. I saw him on that movie "The Aristocrats" and my jaw dropped.
