Default Signed Jersey Care

I have a jersey that my sister got signed for me as a birthday thing and I'm wondering if it's okay to wash the thing or if the Sharpie will wash out or maybe just turn into a big black blobby stain. Anybody know?

I wouldnt wash it. I dont know anything about it washing out or anything, but what I would do is buy and nice frame and get that thing matted in it. Display it with pride!
Unless it's an oilers jersey, then go ahead and wash it.

I have a signed white Cujo jersey that was getting a bit gringy around the seams (why does dirt only collect there?) It was signed with what looked to be a blue sharpie or signature pen.

After much thought, I handwashed it in cold water, then hung it up and let it dry. It was fine after that. There was a very slight amount of bleeding in the signature, but nothing too noticeable (it pretty much just softened the edges of the signature).

I was happy with that. There's no way that I'd toss it in a washing machine, though.

They were selling frames with a front that can be opened at costco for around $300. I have a few autographed jerseys that I may break down and get these things for. Probably better in the long run than just hanging them in the closet.
