Now that the new Television season has been on for a couple weeks, what shows have you tried and liked? So far I've tuned and enjoyed the following:
Lost - great premiere. Looks like a keeper.
Joey - Yeah I know. It ain't that great, but its made me laugh enough times to keep watching
Rescue Me - Watching this right now on Showcase. Wow. So far its great. Starring Denis Leary as a firefighter in NYC. Has a supernatural element to it. Witty, but with a dark twist. Very good so far.
That's about it...I tried watching The Clubhouse on the weekend as I'm a sucker for anything baseball related. But this was just a big piece of American Cheedar. Chee-zeee. Not good.
Any other good ones that I should give a shot?

Making the Cut will probably be the only show I actually schedule myself to watch. Otherwise, I'll just flip until I find something good.

Joey's funnier than I thought it would be. I never really watched friends for the last 3 or 4 seasons, so I'm not all Joey'd out. The writing's above average.
Clubhouse was definately cheese, and is predictable - kid gets a job, cuts class, gets in trouble, gets caught, mom gets mad, does the right thing in the end, everyone's happy.
I've been watching Father of the Pride - was kinda clever at first, now the writing just plain sucks after 3 episodes.
Still watching my regular show, which is Scrubs (Heather Graham's on, and is good). The plots for the first few episodes were recycled from prior years, but it's getting better.
And Last Comic Standing. Can be funny, can suck, but when it's funny it's good.
No other shows really worth watching out there for me.

Lost - I'm just hoping that it dosen't jump the shark when they run out of ways to hide whatevers in the jungle
Rescue me - Anything with Denis Leary is bound to be fairly funny in a wrong way and rough. I love how he bribes his kids with cold hard cash
I watched Father of the Pride tonight, and I hope I'm not the only guy who didn't get creeped out by the whole thing. Unfunny but John Goodman will do his best to save it.
Scrubs - I know its been around for a long time, but its such a brilliant show.
Waiting for the Battlestar galactica season to star
The Next great champion, took a dive tonight and really let me down. why does every reality show have to be a friggen soap opera, I mean its unlikely that woman are watching this show, so lets see some guy getting punched so hard that his eyes pop out of his sockets.
Looks like another disapointing season, even making the cut put me to sleep tonight

I've not watched any new shows. I've sort of wanted to see Lost but just seemed to forget about it for the most part.

The Apprentice, Survivor, and The Mountain -- I was bound to love a show about skiing and it's filmed at Lake Louise no less!

Now, that would be some good television that I might have to set the VCR for.

I've never heard of The Mountain, what's it about? [/b][/quote]
Long story short:
First Episode: Founder of a large ski resort dies in an avalanche leaving behind the family business -- which he specifically leaves to the black sheep / free spirit grandson, rather than his MBA Business Type grandson who is the CFO at the mountain. Tension ensues...
Further: The business is of course in financial straits and such and a takeover bid by a rival developer looms. Lots of other sub-plots as well for a well rounded drama.
As I said it's pretty cool seeing all the well known shots of Lake Louise
Ski Resort, Banff & Canmore area.
It's on Wednesday nights @ 7:00 on the WB. Channel 37 in Calgary.

Besides sports and news i usually don't watch much in tv. I will admit I do watch some real TV programming though.
For shows I watch ER
and new shows I've only seen Joey. The first show blew bad. Since then the shows have become funnier. Though unless they get some better actors I don't see the show lasting long.

The only show I religiously watch is Third Watch. Other than that, I catch That 70s Show, and the Law & Orders when I can.

Good to see the writers giving Jennifer "Stiffler's Mom" Coolidge more of a role on tonight's episode. She's the funniest one in the cast.

Its to bad she is known as Stiffler's mom. Her best work is in Best in Show and A Might Wind. She steals the scenes she is in and is a true comedic genius.

Can't believe so many like Joey....I can't handle it at all. The character is such a rip-off of Tony Danza's character on Taxi.
I wasn't impressed with CSI: New York, although it was better than any of the Miami shows I've seen. I'm a fan of Gary Sinise, but neither of the spin-offs are as entertaining as the original....which I think is the best drama on TV...along with the Law & Orders.
Missed Lost.
Can't wait for season 4 of 24. Hadn't seen a single episode of the show until this summer and finally got through the first two seasons. Really like the show.

I can't stand C.S.I. why is it so popular and why do so many people just swallow the stuff so liberally? How did this thing spawn so many spinoffs???
I mean, this is the fakest police show there is out there. It's all just show-business and special effects. Do you think this is forensic science? Since when do the police work in multi-million dollar forensic labs full of the newest technologies, gleaming stainless stainless steel, glass all around, the most fashionable and modern furniture, and dark ambient lighting for mood???
What foresic scientist has to constantly demonstrate the "investigative trick of the week", "the science experiment of the week", or the "new gizmo of the week" to his partners? Were these people never educated? What lab would go about wasting hundreds of dollars in demonstration props just to illustrate the principle plot points of that week? I'm sick of it's contrived science, contrived characters, contrived dialogue, and contrived plots.
C.S.I. as a show insults the intelligence because it pretends to be an intelligent show that is really all vanity, smoke, and mirrors. . I'd rather watch Law & Order for the intelligence and Miami Vice for the glitz. Man, I miss Crockett and Tubbs bustin' around in their Ferrari blowing up drug dealers! Now that was a show that never pretended it's police work was real yet it was amazingly good.
And yeah, I agree that Joey's character was such a ripoff of Tony's character from taxi. The difference being that Tony was surrounded by an excellent cast and characters that were an ensemble, not just supporting characters with even more flaws and irritability than Joey himself. Whatever happened to shows like that? There isn't one worthy sitcom left on TV. The writing is just so bad in all of them. None of them have any real heart. I loved how the old sitcoms could also use drama and make you feel for the characters. Frasier was the last of that breed.

The early seasons and especially the last season of Frasier was utter crap. That is one of if not the most overrated shows ever.
I do agree with you on the CSI point. I used to enjoy CSI: Miami but the novelty has worn off on me. One question I do have though is if Horatio is supposed to be a CSI investigator why is he always leading the investigation and interrogating witnesses and such? Shouldn't he be focusing on the evidence and letting the detectives do the other stuff?
