Default Flames and Canadiens make a deal

The Calgary Flames have traded Michal Handzus and veteran Dman Nathan Dempsey to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defensive specialists Darren McCarty and Willie Mitchell.

Flames want to become stronger defensively and I think we have accomplished that in this deal
I hated giving up Michal Handzus, but we can always address his loss of scoring in another deal.
Flames are still looking to move Chris Osgood as well.

The Canadiens welcome Michael Handzus to the line-up. We feel Handzus will add a strong defensive presence to our top 3 lines. Additionally, Handzus will remain an offensive threat. He was solid in both the regular season and the playoffs last season, and we are excited to have him join the rest of the squad in the hunt.
