Exorcism relieves ‘Canes of Satan J.P. Dumont and Todd Marchant headed to Raleigh
Miroslav Satan’s stay in Raleigh turned out to be a short one as the Hurricanes sent the winger back to the Panthers tonight. With the addition of Dany Heatley earlier in the offseason, Satan’s future with the Hurricanes became questioned… rumors started to raise once the wingers poor showing in the Summer Tournament resulted in the up and down performance of the Canes. With the acquisition of Dumont by the Panthers earier in the afternoon the Hurricanes were able to package off the winger and aquir some much needed depth as the ‘Canes looked to be heading into the season with very low numbers in player personal and with the SIM now taking over the IR duties, it was a recipe for disaster for the Hurricanes.
Todd Marchant
J.P. Dumont
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes?
In Marchant they acquire another quality defensive center to join Stephane Yelle and Niko Kapanen. Look for the Hurricanes to team either Kapanen or Marchant on Yelle’s left side to form Carolina’s No.1 shutdown unit. In Dumont the ‘Canes acquire a quality winger that will help fill the void created by Satan’s departure. Dumont’s versatility in being able to play both wings will help the ‘Canes juggle lineups as Dumont can find himself anywhere from the 1st to 3rd line.

Miroslav Satan spent all of last season with the Florida Panthers and is coming off a career year. He was a constant threat on and off the ice wih his goal scoring ability and magic devil powers.
Satan is expected to start the year playing on the 2nd line with Dougie Weight and Martin Straka.
