Oil prepare for a pre season home ‘n home series with the Flames. This marks the beginning of the 5 game pre-season for the Oil. Rink: “This should be good indication for our club as the Flames bring some experience to the table with the likes of Federov, Turgeon and Conroy up the middle. On the blue line you got Foote to contend with and their net is well guarded. So ya this will be a great way to prepare for the season”.
With the Oil coming of a strong year, expectations are high for this franchise. Its time for some of the young kids to produce at the CPHL level. Kids like Bouwmeester, Carter, Zherdev, Bergeron and Weiss along with the netminding of Emery. They are the future of this franchise, no longer considered prospects, its time to shine. All will see considerable ice time during the pre-season
Of course Brodeur is the key to the Oil success once again, there should be a very good support group in front of him this season with Hamrlik and Leetch adding much needed experience to the blue line. And did I mention Mr. Regehr, he was brought in with the sole purpose to help Brodeur out this year. Up front the Oil attack will center on Iggy of course. The Oil bring a fairly young attack to the table with only one forward over the age of 29, including the big 4 Iggy, Doan, Samsanov and Lecavalier. Gary Roberts heads into his fifth CPHL season at the young age of 40 (that’s 11 years older than the next oldest Oil forward). Gary will be counted on to show leadership and guide this team into the play-offs for the third year in a row.
Expect the Oil to play with the lines during the pre-season to find that ever so sought after line chemistry. So its hard to tell what we may see…. Coach Guy was not present to take questions,
With a pre-season schedule that includes 4 strong teams: the Flames, Jackets, Wings and an already hard to find ticket “Heatley and the ‘canes”.
Tighten up that chinstrap; we’re coming to an arena near you.
Are you ready? ……………. Are YOU ready? …………….Lets get it on!
