Vancouver Canucks Odd and Ends
The Vancouver Canucks are coming off a strong run in the summer tournament, coming in 2nd place after losing in the finals to the Washington Capitals. The team was able to find chemistry between the veterans and youngsters. Coach Tippet’s implementation of a new system has improved the team immensely. Throughout the tournament, the Canucks provided a quality amount of offense.
The Canucks are excited about the upcoming season. Expect a few announcements from the Canucks’ camp before the puck drops this season…
On the signing of Grant Marshall –
One of the goals this off season is bringing in a forward with veteran presence and strong two-way abilities. Signing Grant Marshall brings in not only experience, but provides guidance for the younger players on our team. Marshall has a positive attitude and we are happy to have him as a member of our organization. Thanks to The Game Player Agencies for the smooth and prompt negotiation.
With the addition of Marshall, the Vancouver Canucks are happy to have a strong selection of defensive forwards: Antti Laaksonen, Marcus Nilson, Scott Thornton, Ian Laperriere, and Dallas Drake.
Various tidbits –
The Canucks signed UFA goalie prospect Mike Brodeur. A native of Calgary, Brodeur is gaining a great deal of experience and should crack the NHL lineup in a few years. He put up strong numbers in the ECHL last season and should be a starter in the AHL
