Default Battlefield 2142 beta download...

It says there that...

This is the Battlefield 2142 Beta Client. Do NOT download this client unless you are invited - this is a closed beta.
Anyone have an idea how to get an invitational? I'm assuming that since its out on public domain for download, the invitational should also be public.

So far you have to be a Fileplanet subscriber (i.e. have a paid membership) and have signed up here: http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions...screening.aspx

If you aren't a subscriber it prompts you to subscribe, if you are a subscriber it will give you a form to sign up and the keys are randomly sent out. I think I read so far there's only been 5000 sent out.

Okay, that makes sense.

I don't have a Fileplant subscription, so I'm outta luck. I guess I'll have to wait until the full version comes out.

Thanks.

I'm hoping there will be a more open beta later on... from the sounds of it they could sure use it. The stuff I've read makes it sound like a typical EA/Dice release; released 3 months too early and will take 4 patches to become a playable game.

Indeed.

I am optimistic, but I expect more from Quake Wars, then from this.

they haven't even made sure BF2 is bug free before abandoning support for it to release this next one. and BFV before it. and BF1942 before that

screw making decent games, EA is all about grabbing as much money as possible by raping a franchise until it's dead

Software is one of the only industries where a vendor can knowingly sell a broken product without the fear of legal reciprocity.

I wonder if anyone has tried to sue software companies over broken games and such.
