If only Pat Robertson had faith like Franck.

So would this be considered suicide? Doesn't "his" god frown upon such things? Wouldn't he be going to hell with all the un-married mothers and gay lovers of the world? (Sarcasm)

You'd think he'd start with something a little safer, like turning water into wine or something eh?

I think God can tell the difference between suicide and stupidity. And in this case I think there is ample evidnece to indicate that it was the later.

Wouldn't he realize right away that it wasn't going to work? As soon as the water was up to his ankles he should have gotten the clue.
I wonder if Jesus knew how to swim.

Alright.. it's at my ankles, maybe if I walk a little further and pray really hard I'll start walking on top.. Okay, up to the knees now, damn, why isn't this working? PRAY!! ****, I'm waist deep.. this isn't working. I can't turn back though, my congregation would think I was full of ****. Up to my neck now.. Man, how come I keep floating a little bit? Better put some sand in my pockets! *bubble bubble bubble bubble!!*
(thinks.. God? What is worse, looking like a fool, or dying of my own stupidity? God? Hey! Oh shi....)

I know that this makes for a good internet joke, but the way I see it there's a better than average chance that this guy was mentally ill. Possibly bipolar--thinking you can walk on water sounds like classic mania to me. Which in a way is not funny at all.
Quote:
One eyewitness said: "He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus.

Thinking that you have had a revelation is another classic sign. What's sad about this is that no-one in his congregation had the wherewithal to figure out that something was wrong and get help for the guy.

I'm probably going to hell for this, but I laughed hysterically when I read the thread title.

Actually it wouldn't be blaphemy, but it would be one of the deadly sins, in pride.
He felt that he was on equal footing with the son of god, and basically demanded the same kind of power.
Don't know if I explained that very well.
