Default Sudoku, I can tell its gonna be addicting.

Heres a link to a pretty cool site with a new Sudoku game daily. (i think someone had a thread quite a while ago about it, hope its ok to bring it back, thought it was a cool game)

http://www.sudokucraving.com/game.php

Ive heard about it, but never played it before. First try, got it in 12:43, probably not too quick. Funny the things you find when you should be studying .

Going to be? It's crack. I've been seriously addicted for about a year now.

http://www.websudoku.com/ is also a pretty good one, and there's hundreds of desktop versions out there.

Yeah my father in law is just addicted to WOW. It's gotten to the point that he'll wake up (yeah he's retired) and check his auction results before checking his stocks.

I feel partially responsible because I got his daughters playing and then him. Kind of ammusing though whenever we go over and the conversation goes to WoW he literially can talk for hours.

Yeah. Sudoku is the heroin of puzzle games. If you're not yet addicted, stay away. I used to work on my dissertation. Now I'm thinking of changing my topic to "Sudoku and Cultural Apperception in the Academy."

I have never liked the online Sudoku puzzles. Many of them are too easy, and they don't have a good mechanism for putting in notes while solving the hard ones. I just picked up a magazine called konzai at the airport. It is from the UK and has a mixture of Japanese logic puzzles. I love it. In addition to Sudoku, it has other puzzles such as: kakuro (cross-sums), hanjie (paint by numbers), hashi (bridges), hitori, battleships, nurikabe, slitherlink, and a few others. They are all logic puzzles and many of them are tough. This mag cost me $6.50, but it will probably last a few months given the amount of time it takes for me to solve each one.

James.
Try the websudoku.com link above.... evil level. (Click options to allow putting in multiple numbers in each cell... although a good sudokian doesn't need that cheat!!! )

Best site I have found. Played a bit but never mastered it. Started to record my best times a while ago..

Easy 2'42"
Medium 4'25"
Hard 6'43"
Evil - no record since I started recording best times (solved it several times before though).

I advise anyone with addictive personalities to stay as far away from Sudoku as you can.

I am a recovering sudokuist, sometimes I fall off the wagon, but I've been straight for two months. The withdrawal wasn't fun, and sometimes I get flashbacks when I see a pencil or numbers. Sudoku was ruining my life! My grades were falling, I was losing friends, selling all my possesions to buy new books. Don't make the same mistake I did! Say no to sudoku!

I'll admit it's addictive, but luckily it hasn't gotten to the point that you described.

Anyways, I thought this site, http://www.youthagainstsudoku.com/index_en.html, was a joke until I read your story.

Hmm... I'll have to give that a shot.

Once I discovered using dots on a square to eliminate options, I've been able to do the really hard puzzles. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku#Marking_up. I use the dots method that does not require erasing.) The erasing used to drive me nuts when the puzzles are really challenging. Now I do the ones that take me 10 minutes just to get the first number.

No, I was over-exaggerating.

I do remember during final exams when I was playing sudoku when I should've been studying though...
