The part about placing props in pictures is kind of old news. I remember that some media outlet was pointed out for doing that after the OKC bombing several years ago. A lot of Sept.11th and Iraq war photos use similar techniques as well.

So you've just discovered our news services are often liars and cheats along with the various governments. I like to remember the footage of Iraqi women dancing, supposedly celebrating the invasion of Kuwait, only to be later discovered the dancing took place at a wedding.

Hezbollah isn't a government. And considering that you are the one spouting about Israeli/Zionist propoganda ....
We have here the Hezbollah Death Cult manipulation of facts with the willing help of major news and photo news groups.

Interesting.
Reuters is primarily an independent subscription service whereas Associated Press (Canadian Press and the like) is a collective organization where members newspapers pool their staff photographers. On whole, Reuters tends to use more freelancers.
Probably a little harder to reign in freelancers as opposed to staff (no excuse, of course).
One of the worst things a news agency can do is to allow photographers to have Photoshop on their laptops and therefore at their disposal. The temptation is too great. In my mind, Photoshop is more of a design program than a photo program. There's certainly other programs that will enable minor lighting or cropping corrections. I know at one time, many organizations prohibited photographers from using Photoshop (cost was a factor, but also photographers are probably the worst to judge how their work will visually reproduce on various paper stocks).
Freelancers naturally live and die by the individual sale. Enhancing their photo themselves serves a means to an end that isn't always in the public's best interest. Back in the film days they were at the mercy of the photo finishers. Digital has changed all that.
Anyways, getting back to Reuters...
Can't be good for their business to have all these shenagans going on. Remember, they're a subscription service. They live and die by their reputation. Reuters is only an add-on service for subscribers who already have Associated Press.

Hezbollah may not be a legal government, but it seems to be running things in Lebanon at present.
Well, I may have spouted about the Israeli/Zionist propoganda, but only because it is the most prevalent in western media and seems to be bent on getting us involved, if necessary. It definitley goes both ways and I like to look at all reports with a grain of salt.

When things go down in Iraq there's ALWAYS a wedding ... anyone else find this strange?
Hezbollah is not the government, but the Lebanese government is powerless to stop it. The problem is that, instead of disbanding the organization like they should of back with the Israeli withdrawl, they let them alone and it grew and grew ... and kept it, essentially, as the military wing of the government. Lebanon is pretty much held hostage by Hezbollah.

I must admit I'm not supirsed or really jaded about it. I've stopped watching the evening news on TV because they'll often spout on about things that are irrelevant, wrong, or just plain stupid. If the articles and stories use smoke and mirrors to spin their views, why not the pictures?

It would have helped if the UN and its member states would have done something about the resolution it made....

They did. They passed a resolution Friday beefing up UNIFIL quite a bit. It would help if you kept up to date on the things you comment on.

So my title on my previous thread was not that far off. Like I said, it's much more than Reuters and it's much more than photo touch ups gopne arye.

You said: It would have helped if the UN and its member states would have done something about the resolution it made....
They did. They re-evaluated and beefed up UNIFIL. On Friday, like I said.

There is some thruth to it. I don't "believe" it, as you would put it. But I will read it to get the other side of the story and try to decide the truth. You think that we're getting the whole story about what is happening? Not a chance. I would liek to see more of the other side to try and find the common ground. Wouldn't you?
BTW... the five Israelis caught dancing in New Jersey during 9/11 is 100% factual and has been sourced through multiple bureaus, including Israeli television. IIRC, they were arrested for their own safety and then discovered they were illegally in the country and deported. It was an interesting little sidebar to 9/11 that was buried and never explored by the media or the 9/11 Commission.
