Default So what's the deal with Digital Cable?

So... I've once again moved out of Sportsnet West territory. I have Digital Cable with regional Sportsnet. Is it correct that the games on SN West will always be blacked-out for me?

Has anything changed?

If this is so, does anyone in Atlantic Canada know of a way to get Flames games WITHOUT satellite?

I dont know about Atlantic, I am in the process however of moving from Calgary to Mississauga, On(dont ask!!) out there you can get NHL centre ice through Rogers Digital cable and frankly the pricing kicks a**!!! $100 on top of my digi cable package gives me the full package for the entire season!!!

I am not sure of Atlantic canada, i would imagine if Rogers provided cable in the region you are good, if not.......i am not sure.

Center Ice for $100? When I talked to Rogers, I was told 200.

Perhaps different in Ottawa? I am not sure, maybe it could also depend on the size of your existing digi cable package(i took the really big one).

They have different promotions different times of the year. If you're a VIP customer you used to get 10% off the price. Sometimes you can get it free when you purchase a digital box.

Either way, it's probably not going to cost you much more then it would in Calgary if you're paying for all the PPV games.

Ok I do live here but unfortunately don't think I will be of much help. I don't get cable, so the only Flames games I see are on CBC (get used to 10pm - 11pm start times, though ).

Anyways, I'm not sure where in Atlantic Canada you are moving to, but where I am you get your cable (and pretty much anything else - internet, phone, etc) from either Aliant or Eastlink. That said, you may want to check with them and see what your options are.

Cheers.

Just for clarification of the original question, any live NHL games that are on a Sportsnet channel that isn't in your region will be blacked out. This is because Sportsnet has purchased the local rights to the game, and not the national rights.

Your only hope might be the new internet streaming product that is supposed to be out this year.

Anyone tried a Slingbox? Would hockey be too fast for a decent stream?

For whatever reason, this past season I got all of the Sportsnet West and Pacific games until the Olympic break. Not sure why, but I did, then it just stopped.
