Poor Sophmore Albums
Hey,
Can anyone thing of any bands or musicians that came out of the gates guns a'blazin' and then really dropped the ball on the second album?
Doesn't matter if they went onto larger success in the future or not.
eg.
Gin Blossoms
I also think the second U2 album is pretty craptacular.
Any examples would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Ok, I like the Gin B. But am not a huge enough fan to know their albums off the top of my head. Was the first one the one that had "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You" on it? And the second one "Follow You Down", "Day Job", etc on it? Or what am I missing here?

Audioslave IMO. Their 2nd album was a step down from the first.

And wasn't the first one a lot of covers? (I'm likely wrong on this, but...)

Weezer fell apart pretty quickly after Blue and Pinkerton.

Well I think Pinkerton is just a fantastic album. Green sucks, Maladroit sucks, and I have to say I'm totally embarassed to have purchased the last one.

Erm kind of fits, but Econoline Crush came out with their 3rd album which really got them recognized (you'd be lucky to find many people who'd even heard of them before the 3rd one), and just when everyone is waiting for the 4th album, they completely crap the bed with it when it came out.
I'm pretty sure they broke up shortly after that too.
I think "The devil you know" is easily one of my favorite albums I own.

The singer lost his mind with the relative success of that album, moved to LA and everything. The next album tanked, haven't heard a peep out of that guy since.
