Default Drainage Swale

OK, kinda a weird topic but I was wondering about these drainage swale's they put in backyards in newer communities. There is one of these on my side of the fence in my backyard. Great place for my kid to get all dirty when he plays in it but I was wondering if there is any way to hide the swale? I just built a 8x8 shed and actually built it over top of the swale in the corner of my yard. It doesn't block water from draining to the street but I'm pretty sure if someone complains I would have to move the shed. Ive also herd of people putting sidewalk blocks down over top of the swale to hide it. I'm wondering if any one has had any experience's with way's to hide it or with neighbors complaining?

In my old house I put sidewalk blocks over it. I also planted potentilla's on the far side of it. They grew over the swale. If the city wanted to get in there, the potentillas are very hearty and would re grow after being cut down.
