I'm not too knowledgeable on certain CFL rules. Why is he not eligible to play in the NFL now? Does he have to play a certain amount of games in the CFL?

It is great he is sticking around! He's been the only bright spot on the team lately.

while you're under contract, the only time you can go to the NFL is during your option year (it's part of an agreement between the CFL and NFL to honour contracts and such).

because sometimes money isn't everything. The guy loves Calgary, his wife loves Calgary, the fans love him, the team took the initiative to make a committment to him...seems like an overall good situation.

He also has a long career ahead of him. He's hinted that the NFL is a possibility in the future
