The world is too ridiculous not to laugh at.

This comic strangely applies:

as stingray attacks are rare, could it not _partially_ be that people that would usually not freak out when near one unexpectantly, suddenly decide it's life-and-death?

Right now there are around 10 people regaling others with stories that go a little something like this:

"...and there it was coming towards me with the look of blood in its eye. I knew, just by looking at it, that it was the one that killed the Crocodile Hunter and by crikey it wanted to do me just like it did poor ol' Steve. Well... I wasn't going to let that happen.

I stood there cautiously, eyeing its every move as it was calculating its lethal attack... then it LUNGED AT ME!... Like a trained warrior, I managed to move out of its way and grab a hold of it as it passed me by. I gripped the tail and I snapped it off and stuck the stinger right through the creatures heart. Just like he did to Steve.

Yeah, thats right... I saved the world from anymore attacks from the killer stingray, and I got revenge for one good ol' bloke, Steve Irwin."

Kinda contradicts what Steve Irving stood for.

I heard that only 17 people in the whole world have ever died because of a stingray.

Yeah, like you weren't doing that anyway!

Not that there isn't a kind of logic to it: after all, not all stingrays have killed Steve Irwin. But all fish that have killed Steve Irwin are stingrays.

I feel shame for writing that.

^^

I'd criticize them, but I kind of gave up the moral high ground on this issue...
