Default Wacky Weather Again!

Very high winds at the Foothills Hospital with the weather radar showing a very intense incoming storm. Keep an eye out. Don't venture outside.

Severe thunderstorm warning just issued moments ago. Batten down the hatches.

My buddy in Panorama Hills said it is starting to rain up there with lightning and thunder. The edge of the clouds are just passing over Kingsland now. Gonna get real dark in all of calgary real soon...

Good. We need this rain to cool the air down.

This cell looks to be passing us by in a hurry but it looks like it may have some other follow it later in the evening.

It didn't cool of that much in the NW, although the cloud cover alone is appreciated greatly. 18 you say, eh? What's your street address, Ken? I'm coming by for a visit!

As of 6:25pm MDT, Environment Canada is calling "for the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds."

Good, cause this first one was lame. A lot of rain, but only one big crack of thunder, and a moderate lightning show. I was expecting more.

At least it feels like the temperature dropped about 5 degrees.

Didn't drop below 24 in the NE. It sprinkled lightly for about a minute, and then gone. Not even any more watches.

^^ Speaking of crazy................. wouldn't a motorized metal chair be an excellent target for a bolt of lightning?

Man... I was so lucky today... I was golfing at Richmond Green... and our tee time was a little before 3:00...
We started seeing the thunderstorm clouds at around hole 6... we played through to hole 9, and it hasn't come down... and at about 5:00 right after I hopped into my car, the rain started coming bit by bit... I was just lucky to finish the final (9th) hole right before the rain started coming.

That reminds me of my golf story. I was golfing with a woman who said she had already been struck by lightening while golfing. It was ladies day and all of a sudden her and all her friends hairs stood on end. They all dropped to the ground and then the clubs exploded out of the golf bag on her cart. Sounds like a pretty scary experience, im surprised she didnt race in as soon as she saw the first bit of lightining on the 17th hole.

A freind of mine has been hit. Her grandmother, mother and herself were all have a birthday of 13th, and all have been hit by lightning. In her case, she was in her early teens, and she was riding her bicycle home. It hadn't started to rain yet, and she was stopped at a light leaning with her hand against a light post. Next thing she remembers she was getting helped up off the ground. Bicycle had some damage, but she was alright.

Where the hell did that wind come from today? From calm to like 60kph steady at the ballpark in an instant, and with the clouds rolling in, it felt like the temperature dropped ten degrees in as many minutes. Glad there wasnt an actual storm associated with that little system...

Wind came so suddenly the Vipers official scorer lost his scorecard right out of the press box. A couple players had to chase it down in the field.
