Something had to be done. I guess Dunnigan really will be taking on more of the offensive planning. I bet you we see alot more run game now.

Good.
Had to be done. Nice to see Dunigan do it swiftly, and with some class... by not by pointing fingers in the media after the game Thursday, or yesterday, rather taking the fall himself, rahter than calling out Jenkins.

Good move but what changed since yesterday when Dunnigan said he was going to "take the bullet". Did Feterik step in and demand a change perhaps?

Firing Jenkins becomes only a small step in trying to turn this team around. A lot mor ehas to been done, starting at QB...

The only thing I can see Feterik demanding of this team is giving his baby boy the starting QB job.
Nice to see that idiot Jenkins gone, but we still need Feterik out of there if we ever want to be a respectable team again.

Great... Dunnigan is already a brutal GM and a bad coach. Adding the title of mediocre offensive coordinator doesnt exactly give me confidence.

This is outstanding news IMO. I guess now I gotta change my sig tho. If Geroge Cortez is back I think everyonw will be happy. But he really needs to look at the personnel he has then decide what kind of offense we need to run here. Baby steps in what looks to be a long re-building. I think we need a full time GM now.....and let Dunnigan just worry about coaching.

I am surprised at all the support for Cortez all of a sudden. I seem to remember the fans and media saying that he sucked and had no imagination when he was the Offensive Coordinator a few seasons back.

I think that Matt will take over as OC for the rest of the season and just modify Jenkin's system to incorporate the running game more. If a new OC was hired, he would want to put in a whole different system and that would set the team back to training camp. We would be throwing the season away.

I for one always liked cortez - yea, he did the whole "run on first down, pass on second" strategy all the time, but he was also the guy in 2001 that brought in the 6 pack that basically got us over the Smos and into the Grey Cup. I think an experienced guy with success is better than giving Dunnigan another title under his name (yes, I know Jenkins was an experienced guy with success, but he was showing that the talented players he coached made him look good - I think Cortez can do more with Crandell and Jones).

The problems with Cortez back in the day was really nitpicking compared to the issues now.

The problem then was more with team and why can't they win the Grey Cup or Western Final...underacheiving for the talent level. And, with the offense, how they had trouble adapting to the cold October/November weather with the 6 pack and the run/pass mix.

No worries with those issues now. Get an OC guy that doesn't have a phone book for a playbook, has a repoire with exsisting players, and can get along with Dunigan. Cortez is as good as any with CFL experience.

Great news. Jenkins was an idiot. Dunigan will be able to do a good job.

Good thing. Jenkins needed the extra time to work on his tan and dye his hair!

I haven't given up on this season. Yeah, we screwed up big time against Ottawa, but we played decent for about 45 mins. The entire west seems completely unpredictable so far. There are still 12 weeks left and I still think we'll finish 7-11 and make the playoffs.

Too much has been made of Cortez being in town. From what I hear, he is in town because his in-laws live here and a bunch of other relatives. Yes, it would be nice for him to come back. At California or wherever he is coaching, he is making big time money. Big colleges pay very, very, very well. In fact I would bet he makes more than any other CFL coach, including Wally Buono and Don Matthews. At those real big colleges the HC's would have to take a pay cut to go to the NFL. Their top coordinators are also well taken care of. Love to have George. Isn't going to happen any time soon.
