Raptors sign Parker and Bosh
The Toronto Raptors announced on Thursday that they have signed free agent Anthony Parker. Formely a player for Israel's Maccabbi Elite Tel Aviv, Parker was the Euroleague's MVP for 2005 and 2006.

(TSN.ca with CP) - Star forward Chris Bosh has agreed to a contract extension with the Toronto Raptors, but published reports indicate that the deal is not as long as the club had hoped. According to ESPN.com and the Toronto Sun, Bosh has opted for a three-year deal with a player option for a fourth season. The Raptors were hoping he would sign the maximum deal allowed under the NBA's salary cap rules - five years for about $80 million. According to ESPN's website, Bosh will instead make about $40 million over three years, and if he picks up the option for a fourth season, the total would be around $60 million. The exact totals can not be tabulated until the salary cap is set for the 2007-2008 season.

Anyone know of a link to a good Raptor Depth Chart ?
The Blue Jays have a nice one that is updated regularly at http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/NASA...x.jsp?c_id=tor
The Flames depth chart is updated here within seconds of any announcement in any language in any country.
I haven't found anything user-friendly for the Raptors yet.

Depth charts as I see them right now for raps:
C: Nesterovich, Bargnani, Garb.
PF: Bosh, Garb (w/e his name is), Humphries
SF: Parker, Graham, Garb, Tucker.
SG: MoPete, Graham, Tucker
PG: Ford, Calderon.
Parker is a really talented Euroleague player, and I'm pretty darn sure he'll start @ SF for the raps.
I'm sure Bargnani will be thrown in at PF sometimes, but mostly C. Garbosja will basically be the forward swing man.
Salmons is also coming to TO:

Not sure where he fits yet, but 5 yrs, 23 million is a pretty big tag for a guy who didn't see a ton of action in philly.

raptors.com is the one I check out. They have Anthony parker up already so it is updated fairly quick.
Parker is a very quick and exciting. He is a good shooter and will probably play SG with Mopete at SF. Only problem is his age. I think he is 29.

Thanks guys.
CaramountLS: Thats a good Depth chart you whipped up. Garbajosa I believe .. but not yet officially signed ?
I went back to raptors.com with new determination: with my Firefox settings I find that a god-awful blast of colour and motion to find anything useful: At least now I found the players list with their position (Forward or Guard detail).
More questions:
1) Tucker really a 2006 possible player given his second round pick status ?
2) Is Bargnani really expected to play centre or some other forward position ?
3) Why is the Alvin Williams giant contract still on the books. I mean what more proof for "unplayable" is required. Anyone know the process / timeline ?

Alvin's Contract: It was uninsured, however the Raptors have a clause in the contract that if he gets a knee injury they can effectively cut him. He'll get 5 million this year, 2 million next year. I think his base is around 9 million per or something, so his contract is incredibly valuable.
Not only does a team get an expiring contract, but they get one which reduces costs in a hurry, and is more valuable than a standard expiring contract. So the Raps haven't cut Alvin yet, that is what makes his contract valuable. They'll wait to deal him, then the team who gets him will do the cutting.
Bargnani is going to be expected to play C and occasional backup PF minutes. He'll be sharing minutes (likely backup to start) with Nesterovic. Colangelo said so.
Tucker - with some of the depth the Raps have, I'm not sure how much playing time he'll be getting, but it is likely he'll recieve a contract. He has great rebounding skills and could be a stopper off the bench. He might play in the development league like Sow did for a lot of last season.
Garbajosa - All indications are that he will sign w/ the Raps, I think it is pretty much the worst kept secret as TO media are basically saying he is a part of the team already.

Thanks for info. I think I kind of understand the new NHL cap management.... but I now realize thow clueless I am on the NBA version. You mean that Alvin's contract could actually have "positive" trade value !!! Wow. Where do I sign up for NBA 101 ?

Their cap system is insane, basically you can trade expiring contracts for contracts of equal value (but more years) to a team who is over the cap. So a team who wants cap relief during the off season will trade for one usually.
Thats how the Knicks are at such an insane payroll, they trade players who are expiring for others with say 4 more years left, but the same amt of money. Its crazy.

Welcome to United Nation Raptors. We have players from Spain, Ukraine, USA, and Italy. One player even played for a team in Israel. I have never been so excited with the Raptors since Vince Carter started playing like a superstar. I won't put the Raptors as the favorite to win the championship just yet but they are the up and coming team in the league with all the signings lately. The Raptors now have 2 true PG in Ford and recently signed Fred Jones. Calderon will definitely improve as a point guard with the addition of 2-time Spanish league MVP Garbajosa. Forwards who can score lead by Bosh, Bargnani, Parker, and even Humpries will start contributing after his rookie season. We got the toughness in Nesterovich and Garbajosa. The leaders will be Bosh and MoPete that's for sure. I think the only position we are lacking is the centre. We don't have the take charge centre like the Shaq, Big Ben and so on but I am sure Nesterovich will show he can play.
I guess it would be too early to tell what Garbajosa, Parker, Bargnani and Tucker. We can all hope that they can play the way the scouts tell us. If they do, then count the Raptors as a playoff team this coming season.
