Default Sportsnet dumps Scott Morrison

Citing philosphical differences, Rogers fires Hockey and News Director Scott Morrison.
"When we launched in 1998, we quickly became known for our fun, sometimes irreverent, but always credible and complete approach," Beeforth wrote to employees. "Over the years, we've gradually moved away from that mix, to the point where there's not much difference between us and our competitors."It's time to move back in the direction of a brand that stands for energy, fun and entertainment, aimed at making Sportsnet the first choice of young men as their source for sports content."

I hope that doesn't mean more Mike Toth. That juvenile approach doesn't work for me.

Nothing, he was fired.

I saw him on the hockey insiders show, or whatever it was called.

I really liked Sportsnet shortly after they came to be, but lately haven't bothered to pay much attention to them. I think this could be a step in the right direction.

He is like the Beavis and Butthead version of a sportscaster. I thought he was funny when i was 8 years old watching sports at 11. He's just pathetic now. Not funny.

I used to watch Sportsnet. But now they've just ****ed me off with all the Canucks stuff at 11pm (I believe?).

I mean really... the TWO Albertan teams should have their own late night sportsnet..

Looks like TSN it is.. or the Score.

Stupid Sportsnet Pacific...

It's either Vancouver or Toronto for them. How was Sportsnet (what was it called before again?) any different? They say they've become too much like the competition...I'll still turn to TSN everytime.

Bad move. Do they want to be a comedy show or a station that is competitive in the cut throat industry? Since Morrison stepped up, their hockey insider coverage became much more competitive. Before, Sportsnet was always last in breaking stories, trades etc. It wasn't even worth watching for breaking news. They had hot chicks doing highlights and that was it, no depth.

TSN should snag this guy.

TSN is by far #1 right now in NHL coverage in Canada.

1) Jennifer Hedger is sooooooo hot.

2) Miller/McGuire is the best duo for play by play right now. They also have Cuthbert who is the best in the business.

3) Bob McKenzie is still pretty good after all these years. He is professional, to the point and try to be funny with lame jokes like Kypreos on Sportsnet.

4) And then there is Dave Hodge who represents hockey's past.

TSN is #1. The Score and Sportsnet have a lot of work to do to get even close to TSN, IMO.

Really? I don't see it. I think the other chick is better looking. I can't remember her name though.

I prefer TSN as well. It manages to be entertaining and/or witty, while also providing the breaking news. I can't say that I take Sportsnet all that seriously.

Holly Horton. I agree, Holly is better lookin than Jen. She was referred to by some as Hottie Horton when she was working for Global in Lethbridge... it didn't really catch on though.

TSN is still the best, but The Score is great to, Sid and Tim are good, but TSN has more games than just Raptors B-ball, TSN also have awsome play-by-play guys, Chris Cuthbert is the best and Mcguire gets so excited sometimes it's just funny, especially with the doulble-dion thing. Sportsnet......I just won't say anything about them.

I will admit that Holly Horton has stepped up her game over the last few months. ...but there was a point where I wondered what she was doing on TV. She was obviously a project that they've improved on.

On a somewhat related note, has the Flames' deal with Sportsnet expired or do they still have a year left? I could use more than 30 games on SN this coming year.

70 would be preferable.

I watch the Score for everything other than Hockey and CFL.

The Score has their niche, there is no point going Toe to Toe with TSN or SN for hockey rights. Also, who owns the Score. I have heard it was the WWE and that their plan was to convert the Score into an all westling channel? Thankfully that hasnt happend, Tim, Sid, Cabbrall, D, Kool, trounce over anyone at any of the other networks.

If they would just hire some more eye candy, I hope no one out east actually considers the Sens reporter eye candy. Deb in Calgary was ok, but they need something else.

Sigh ... Jennifer Hedger is absolutely drool-worthy.

Anyway, I've never been a big sportsnetnews guy at any point, it's usually The Score or TSN for me with TSN winning out lately. The guys on The Score are getting old for me.
