Trading a red paper clip for a house
A Montreal man, on a lark, decided to use the internet to try and barter his way up from a single red paper clip to his ultimate goal, a house.
He's doing pretty good so far . . . .

I am sure he will do well with the book when it is all said and done. There are so many times that you see someone come up with something so simple, and they are set for life, leaving you scratching your head thinking "why didn't I think of that?". I hope he gets there, especially since he isn't really free loading, it sounds like it will become a LOT of work.

Strikes me as a bit of a publicity tool. It's a cool idea. I just think he would not be this far this fast if it had been done by 1000's before him.

That is indeed a great story, what seemed to be impossible... trading a red paper clip for a house... just shows that anything can happen in this world...
Unfortunately, something like this could probably only happen once.

After rading the article I think it might be time for the world to go back to a barter system.

He should start up an internet trading site and base it out of Kipling, SK. Could be the next EBay and make Kipling a new Silicon Valley North. Or maybe not so much.

Also keep in mind a lot of these trade ups were a bit of a charity case on the part of the other person. Take the first trade- a pen worth a couple of dollars for a paper clip worth a penny. And then the second last trade of the movie role is very much a "one of" type of thing; where they are trying to get publicity for the movie.
Great to see he made it; however I don't think this is something that can be repeated.

I have a nice Calgary Flames keychain I would like to barter. It is metal and about 1 inch in diameter (Flaming C).
I am trying to barter my way up to a Jarome Iginla Jersey....
