Some pics from last night... The first few are from circus maximus, then there are a couple from the pilgrimage to the colosseum, then there are a couple from piazza venezia. I'm going to throw in a pic of a couple of friends posing with the carabineiri. Just to say that the party was intense, but not out of control.
I apologize for the crappiness of the night pics. It is pretty difficult to hold the camera steady for night shots when in large crowds and after a few beers.
Very unfortunate that my camera died before I got to the trevi fountain. It was insane over there. People climbed all over the thing and were splashing around in the water. For those of you that have never seen the trevi, let me say that it is a gigantic fountain with about 10 pools and 10 big @ss sculptures. Kinda hard to imagine I guess. Google it and look for a picture, then imagine a couple hundred people in and on the fountain, and a few thousand revellers in the piazza.
Usually, there are police there to keep people from going into the fountain. LAst night, they just let the crowd have their party.
Rome went Red Mile last night. I'm sure there were problems here and there, but I didn't see anything out of control. I saw one random fire in the middle of piazza venezia, one fistfight, two knocked over garbage cans, and one hot dog vendor truck (quite dangerously) make a dash through a thick crowd and get pummelled by ****ed off people.
Other than that, all I saw were very happy italians, and lots of tourists just joining in the fun.
If anyone finds interesting llinks or pics, please post them. I want to hear if there were any major problems around Italy or France last night.

Some pics from Roma
I can imagine people climbing all over the Trevi Fountain. It is very tempting to do so, and if no one was around to hold me back I would totally do it. Although I would try to be careful not to damage it, something I am not sure fanatical soccer fans hopped up on Peroni would do.
