Default 1991 Score Hockey Cards

Sup CP Crew,

I was at the good old Swap N Shop here in Victoria on the weekend (don't ask just something me and my buddy do to waste time on a Sunday morning ) Anyways....

We were just walking around and I saw some guy selling hockey cards and he had some Score hockey cards....Well these cards are brand new in package and in box. I bought 64 packs of 15 cards per pack and talked him down to $10 for the whole lot. So I have almost 1000 brand new 1991 score hockey cards that I don't know what to do with!

My question to EVERYONE is....Would you...

A: Open them and see if there are any decent rookie cards...like (i think) Fedorov, Belfour, Amonte...and so on

OR

B: Leave them in the packaging and wait 10 years

Like I DO NOT collect hockey cards so I don't know anything about the value of them...I just saw a 1000 hockey cards for 10 bucks...and figured worse case I can let my little brothers have them!

Let me know if you have any suggests or comments...just curious what to do with them now.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!

The Score cards from that year were vastly over-produced. They aren't worth much. Hence the reason you got so much for only $10. I have about 2000 of them sitting in the storage space under my stairs... I'm not sure why I'm even keeping them. Waste of money.

Okay good to know...I just figured worse case I give them to my younger brothers to play with!

Best case was he didn't know the value and I found a gold mine :P

Open them and sell any good RCs you might find. You might double your investment.

They will never appreciate in value as an unopened product. I could probably go to Collectors Paradise here in town and get a case of anything from that timeframe cheap.

If you're looking at 90-91 then the Lindros rookie is the top card from that year and it is roughy $6 or $7 according to the Beckett (that may be american price too).

If it is the 91-92 season, I don't think there was much from that year, it wasn't very popular that year.

Hockey cards from that era are worth absolutely nothing and will never be (unless this were the year 3000) as they were vastly overproduced as one of the overhyped fads of the time.

You can frequently buy boxes and boxes of still sealed 1980s and 1990s hockey cards (Score, Opeechee, Upper Deck [maybe a little more valuable] and Proset) on ebay for pennies.

take 1 clothes pin and a pack of cards. Next you insert clothes pin and cards on the back tire of your bicycle. There you have it!! A 2 minute motorcycle ride! (oh the yzerman and lemieux rookies I wasted)

The Lindros rookie card was in a Score second series in 1990-91 (spring 1991).

LOL I remember when that rookie card was worth a lot back then. I remember there was a Canadian version and an American version.

the stuff from that era is all worthless. You have to go back to Roy's rookie year to get anything of value.

Was that the one where you had to do the mail in redemption? I think I have two of those.

What would a Brett Hull rookie card be worth nowadays? That was the best of my collection. Oh Pee Chee or whatever the brand was called. Near Mint condition.

Not sure if its still worth much, but O-Pee-Chee Premier came out in early 1991 in limited quantities..I got a sorted set for $20 from the Old Book Attic in Canyon Meadows, right after they came out. Boxes were $15.

Still remember the day I got it..as I was putting the set into sheets, the US starting attacking Iraq for the first time with those night vision air attacks in Feb 1991.

Soon after, due to scarcity of the set in the market, boxes of cards were going for $80 a box or more.

I am sure they've died down since.

I do have that Roy rookie year set. I got it as a b-day gift from one of my friends in that year...so the set probably cost them $15..last time I checked it was still over $150, mainly due to Roy's rookie card.

Edit..Roy's card is selling for close to $200..wow.

Not sure how much value you expect Amonte rookie cards to have:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8801538910

Now, I bought those because I like Amonte; in fact I like him enough to spend 1¢ on his rookie cards!

I was just listing names that I remember being a rookie in that year...I wasn't even sure if I was right.

I figured they were garbage...but wanted to ask before my borthers destroyed them
