Default Car Explodes/Bursts Into Flame

Hi guys,

I hadn't seen anyting about this in the news so I figured I would share something I saw last night.

Just north of the Calf Robe Bridge on Deerfoot last night at about 11:15 PM there was a car on fire that had been completely gutted by fire. It was basically just a hunk of burning metal. Tons of huge fire trucks, police, ambulances, etc were there. It was right at a ramp and it looked like it was the only vehicle involved.

It was nuts. Never seen anything like it in my life.

I was wondering if anyone had heard/seen this or any news stories about it.

Nope not a thing…

But since we are talking about burnt cars, I’ll throw my still escapade into the mix

So I am coming out of my house and walking to my car when I look down the street to see a Jeep fully in gulfed in Flames, the house was about 4 or 5 houses down, it was nuts! I thought I had gone plume crazy, so I went and grabbed my sister and my step mom, they saw it too. soon many of the neighbors where out on the street, buy now but the people that owned the car still where no were to be seen, so one of there neighbors they new well just walked up to there front door and told them that there car was on fire next thing you know there are 2 fire trucks and 3 police cursers on my street, never knew what started the fire but the burnt hunk of metal sat there for about 2 months

Sounds more like engine problems.

My burnt car story....

Parked at the west ed mall one day, only to go back to it in the afternoon and find an odd sight. 2 stalls over, a car was sitting cold, scorched black, with nothing but metal and littles bits on the parking lot. With not a soul in sight. Lucky we didn't choose the stall next to it.

While it is parked and off with the people who own it inside their house? Really?

Yeah, vehicle fires can be quite the spectacle. Though it is rare for a vehicle to actually explode, they do burn for quite a while and since the small size of them, are usually gutted before the crews get there.

Too bad I didn't see this when I was at work, I could've done a search on it. If there was an ambulance there that usually isn't a good sign (they're rarely requested on a vehicle fire).

The only time I saw a car burst into flames- that is how it happened. It was back when there was an intersection at 146 ave and James McKevitt. (I recall because I got into an arguement with the 911 operator- she told me it was the same street.)

Anyways the people had left their car because it broke down on them. When I got there 10 minutes later it was smoking, and within another 5 minutes it was on fire. However unlike Jpold when I see a vehicle on fire I call the fire dept instead of gathering spectators. The firemen had it out within a minute or two, but the entire engine bay was toast- anything that wasn't made of steel was gone. Even some of the aluminum components had melted away.

So I'm not the only one who wondered about that.

A guy I worked with was on the road in a motel when someone knocked on his door to tell him his Jeep was on fire. He was able to get it out of gear, push it away from the motel (and get some stuff out) before the firetrucks arrived.
Poor guy, it was his 2 vehicle write-off in 4 months.

I saw an old dump truck on fire on Deerfoot one time. The only thing left was dump, no truck.
