Kind of a complex situation I have going here... I haven't been truthful to my parents for a little while now... and well the situation has arose where I need to come clean. I am not going to discuss the details, but I need to come clean about this issue by tommorrow.
Its a major life affecting thing.. I just want the best way to tell the people involved I've lied to them...

I'd say to call President Bush for advice, but he hasn't figured that out yet either!

If there's one thing I've learned in apx 21 years, it's that parents always know when you've been lying to them...always. So come clean, be honest, but also ask for their respect in you coming clean...nothing can be done about the past.

HONESTY.
Just tell them whatever it is and don't make excuses for misleading them.

No they don't, especially if you don't have a BS track record.
Here's what I've learned about lies, the sooner you come clean the better. Once things snowball and get more complex it becomes that much more difficult to get out if it. Cut your losses before things get worse, they can always get worse.

I'm not so sure..
Depends on the subject..
But you've certainly got me wondering.
Good luck, hopefully it's not mortality related! (edit, or worse that cat thing, I never lived that down)

Yup, be 100% honest. That is my advice as well. Don't get into a bunch of little lies when trying to come clean. Tell the whole truth, no matter how bad you think it is.

Despite what people say, honesty is not always the best policy. I can't really tell you what to do cause I don't know the situation is. If you were lying to them when you said you were going to the libraray, but in fact going to see your girlfriend, then telling them the truth would be a good idea. If its because you are gay, and you think they will disown you, then I say keep lying for now

lol guys well I can tell you I am not gay, and it is school related...
My parents are pretty hard core and I haven't had the greatest track record with them interms of being honest...
but this is by far my biggest mistake ever... its going to look even worse because I am literally trapped in a corner and I need to come clean.
|
Let me guess alot of other lies stemmed from this, or this is just another one because you had to keep some other story going...
If you got the Deans Vacation...you probably needed it. Just work hard and change some of your habits. Especially if you are the type to make excuses for everything that doesn't go right for ya.

I notice in your original post you didn't ask for advice then said you were "trapped" with no way out, cornered like a rat.
I assume you are posting therefore to lift some of the stress as part of an early confessional to ourselves.
I would agree with the other poster who suggested that if it was something that would hurt them and they didn't need to know then you should think carefully about telling them.
But . . . . that doesn't sound like the situation.
So, you're going to be in the doghouse tomorrow and that's all there is to it.
Take the cowards way out - phone them instead so they can't start swinging!!

Cow suggests phoning... I personally hate discussing important things over the phone. I'm more for in-person, or better yet, writing it down (followed up by a good face to face talk).
As others have suggested, honesty and the whole truth is the best way to go. It's a tough spot to be in, but I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason, and though it might be h*ll right now, there's nowhere to go but up.
Good luck.
