Default New Home Gifts

My parents have recently (as of today) moved out of Calgary for good. Their house is in the middle of being built and I'd like to get them something for when it is built. Unfortunately I'm having a tough time deciding on something. I'd like to get them something useful, that will actually be used, not just some ornament type gift. I was going to get some sort of chairs for the deck they will have with an amazing view, but it seems my never usually thoughtful brother is one upping me and building them chairs. So it's left me back at square one. Anyone have any ideas? They enjoy camping, and fishing if that helps at all.

Get a nice fishing rod, and engrave it with " The God Rod"

I could, but they both have a few fly rods as it is. And basically any fishing equipment is useless because I swear my dad has everything out there. (He's a part time fishing guide).

How about a nice set of solar powered garden lights? They have nice ones at Costco.

Do they... or will they have a lot of grass to cut? How about matching lawnmowers?

The matching lawn mowers suggestion made me laugh, that's a good one. Unfortunately at some point when they have grass they will have a lot of it, so they already have a ride-on lawnmower. I'll keep the solar powered lights in mind.

I'm going to second this gift idea.

A home weather station.

Collects weather data from outside and displays it indoors wirelessly.

My parents have one of those. Its way cool.

Another idea would be a gargoyle for the garden. You know, to ward off evil spirits and all.

The weather station is cool, but a pain in the butt at the same time. We keep the windows closed until the temperature is cooler outside than it is in. Well is sucks b/c we're always looking at the weather station, and just when you think it is hot inside, you see the actual temperature and you being to think that it is even hotter.

The garden lights is a cool idea though.

How about a nice grill?

I'd recommend a Weber Genesis Silver B.

I was born on my moms birthday. I've never had to get her another present since.
