Good for him and I hope this move promotes more philanthropy within the wealthy elite.

So, where do I sign up? . Anyway, it's nice the guy is doing it. The whole charity idea is noble, but as a business man, he should know that for the most part charities eat up more than half the money in the ever famous, "administrative expenses" and contribute the rest to the ones in need. As a marvelous mind, he should come up with a way to donate without those pesky costs involved.

BTW: How the heck did he earn so much money strictly on investments??? That's just incredible.

I'm sure they can still do that with the 6.6 Billion (85% of 44 Billion is he giving away) which he is keeping.

Haha, it would take years to figure out how much money "Margaritaville" has made.

LOL! Yep, I admit I did too. As I was opening it the "hey, maybe it's that billionaire guy" thought got into my head.

He's donating the bulk of it to the Gates Foundation. I'm sure much, much more than 50% of the 30+ billion Buffet is donating will go directly to good causes.

I believe the Gates fund is over 60 billion now in size, it pretty much just hands out the interest every year in the form of grants and national educational/health initiatives.

He's also gaining a directorship on the Gates Foundation. I'm sure the money will be used efficiently.

Very cool - now if only Mr. Hilton would give away his fortune, maybe then his daughters would actually be real actual human beings.
