The Columbus Blue Jackets are very pleased to announce the restructuring of Doug Weight's contract. He will noe be making 7.85m for the next 3 years, rather than 9.6 for the next two.
"We are very happy to have Doug signed long term at a more affordable contract." GM Matt Trotta stated, "When we picked him up from Florida, his salary was a major concern, but we feel we have chisled it down to an acceptable level. The expectations are on Weight to live up to even this salary level, and we are confident with Sullivan and Carter, he'll earn his keep."
When asked if these salary reductions meant that Columbus was gearing up to take on salary, GM Trotta said the following...
"Money is tight, these reductions give us room to maneuver with our RFAs and keep the standard of hockey high."
Rumor is maligned LW Dean McAmmond is next on the negotiation list.
