Default Fans of EA's Hockey games.

I'm going out there again next month to testplay NHL 07 and provide input. Is there anything you'd like them to improve specifically? Things they could add to the game?

I'll try to get some of CP's input in there aswell. I don't know if our input will affect NHL 07 or 08 seeing that NHL 07 is probably in it's final stages of development.

I would be grateful if you could get them to quit allowing defensemen to magically fly past you to defend whenever there is a breakaway or worse they hook blatantly making you lose the puck... also if they could get some of the players to actually defend in their own zone instead of standing beside would-be scorers.

Not if it's like 2k6... I just couldn't enjoy that game. and I loved everyone up to it. 2k6 just didn't feel fun whatsoever.

But I know what you mean.

I agree. in 06 you can just move around guys relatively easy. They need mot aggressive Defenders... i'm not talking about hitting. But going for the puck carrier like in real life, istead of pylons.

I enjoyed 06 and still play to this day, but it's definetely too easy scoring goals.

Weird. I can't stand playing the EA games. It never feels smooth, more like a choppy combination of pre-set and rough animations.

Of course, thats what every video game is... but EA always felt really robotic to me.

I agree for the most part. But this year 2k6 just didn't hit the mark. Horrible presentation, graphics, ect and most importantly the gameplay just sucked. NHL 06 while far from perfect is still enjoyable day to day and feels like the old EA games.

I hope 07 is a combonation of what they had in 06 with the authenticity of a real hockey experience.

My only beef is the goalies stacking the pads 500 times a game. I play 2k6 strictly for Crease control...it's amazing. The goalies in 06 just suck...period.

I want more goaltender freezing of the puck, especially the human controlled goalies. I would like it so that the ref would blow the whistle after a glove save just as fast as he does in the NHL.

Also, I would like to see the puck deflect over the glass a bit more. I really think these are two crucial aspects that would go a long way to making th ai perform more like real hockey. Right now, it is simly too easy to both break in and out over the blue lines.

Basically, I would like the game to get as realistic and simulation as possible. If they want, they could have a choice, sim or arcade game. EA did it for Rugby 95, they can do it 12 years later too.

I don't think EA will ever go for the full Simulation. I call their games Simcade. There will always be an arcade aspect to their games. It sells

Yeah, I know.

But they could go about getting a choice of arcade or sim.

basically, if every other of the major EA titles has gotten an ai overhaul, or completely redone, why then do we sit here with this crappy ai that hasn't had much but tweeks done to it in the past 5 years?

OH, another thought, ask them what they are planning for the Wii version of the game. I want some stack handling with the Wiimote!!!!

I think NHL 06 was a pretty good overhaul. A good foundation to improve. I hope they don't scrap everything from 06 completely.

and yeah, I'll be checking the systems. Makes me wonder if they've got the Wii and PS3 at their Studios!

I'm a PC gamer now though, so i'll be most interested in that version.

Another thing interesting, it's from the 20th to the 22nd and the NHL awards are on the 22nd and the draft is the 24th. That'd be sweet to run into some players at the hotel, we stay at a very nice hotel, and last time got to go to GM Place for a tour.

On the application it ask's what stick size we use and which way we shoot... I'm wondering if we'll have some kind of street hockey game as part of the event...

They still don't have a cover athlete announced.

color commentary and stuff is just horrible!
I play seasons, so I hear the exact same things over and over. You hear the same thing multiple times in a game.
I know it'll be a while before everyplay is a new announcement, but it is something that they can definately start working on.
