They should do more political stuff. No, actually they shouldn't...they don't have the talent level anymore. I mean, they had to bring Tina back to get this done.

I remember watching during the 88 election cycle when there were like 174 candidates for President. SNL had someone for every candidate and they were dead on. It was gold every Saturday.

Tina definitely nailed Palin though. She's so talented.

I gave up on the election thread a long time ago. It seems to be the same people making the same arguments changing no one's mind about anything. More power to those who want to venture in there, but I'd rather not.

This is about the election, but it's not "about the election".


Back to the topic...I can't be the only one who, upon seeing Palin for the first time, thought "well, I guess I know what Tina Fey will be doing this fall".

no kidding, did you watch the show AFTER this skit? It was attrociously bad...or at least the parts I saw. I couldnt even make it through halfway.

The Today Show produces far more talent these days then SNL.

I have become like a born-again Tina Fey fan, I remember I never really thought much of her when she did her SNL run but I love her work on 30 Rock and I thought she was ace as Palin. And last night I watched her in that movie Baby Mama which was pretty insipid but I didn't care because she was in it - she's actually why I watched it, maybe it's the glasses? Seems like Fey and Amy Pohler like to work together. I am probably missing something there.

I have been in love with Tina Fey since she first started on Weekend Update in 2000, and for her on and off sketches before she was famous. Maybe it was because she reminded me of this girl I knew with glasses...

Anyway......................

I was really hoping that she'd be back for Weekend Update this episode but all she did was the Palin sketch and then showed up at the end in the Leia '08 T-Shirt. She came back for Weekend Update once last season and it was amazing. I always wanted more Tina Fey in sketches but she usually only did Weekend Update all those years since she was head writer. Weekend Update with her and Fallon were the brightest part of my weekend in many a dark year.



Anybody catch her stint on the Night of Too Many Stars 2008? (A celebrity charity show hosted by John Stewart where celebs get people to give for fundraising). She showed up with the CEO of Whitecastle. She had suggested they give $50,000 but he decided to give $100,000. For that, she said that he could "hold my boob from now to sunday".

I'm kind of in the minority ... I think snl has actually improved over the last few years. I find a lot of my friends take to ripping on SNL because its trendy to do so. Nobody actually watches it, they just complain. I'm not directing this at anybody here, just something my friends do that I find annoying.

I won't stick up for the latest episode though. Phelps is right up there with Nancy Kerrigan for acting skill (mabe the worst episode I've ever seen). Not really his fault, but I'd rather they keep away from athletes. Except Payton Manning ... that one was pretty good.

Manning was hilarious. Classic actually.

The show may have improved over the last few years. You could be right. I'm dating myself here, but I think it was at it's best in the 88-92 range...which is 2 decades ago. Lots of current viewers have never seen those episodes! It's amazing how time flies by.

Haha....Michael Phelps kept tripping over words. He did alright though. I was expecting worse.

And about the Manning episode, I really liked that one. Especially at the end where his brothers brought out a birthday cake for him. Aww....it was so awkward but natural at the same time and just seeing the 3 brothers together..... I don't know --- family stuff always get me.

Anyways, I'm rambling and high off exercise.

I've been watching SNL on and off for a long time, and the same thing always happens. People always talk about how it used to be good when this or that person was one, but now it sucks. It NEVER seems to be any good now, but was always good when someone else did it. People used to say how good it was when Dennis Miller did weekend update and how much Norm Macdonald sucked. Then it was hoe good Norm Macdonald was and how Tina Fey sucked. And how good Jimmy Fallon was but Amy Poehler sucked, and now that Amy Poehler has announced she is leaving, she is now, "The last funny one".

Well, I'm sure SNL has its ups and downs, but as time passes you will forget the crappy stuff and remember the funny stuff, and this season will be funny, too. Enjoy the funny stuff, forget the junk, and look forward to next week, even if your favourite isn't on the show anymore.
