Default Ricky Williams is great.

I like his attitude... Sure he really don't give a **** sometimes but the world needs guys with a different character, especially in sports where for the most part the guys are just clones.

I respect the guy's position in life too, maybe not the dope smoking part of it but in general he's an alright dude in my books.

when they're writing your paycheck they are.

Agreed with Jiri. The guy is a total flake. The only reason he's still in the game is because the Dolphins sued to get his signing bonus back and the guy is broke.

He's a quitter. You agree with that? Not a good stance.

Of course CalgaryFlames can identify with Ricky Williams, both of them just couldn't stay away after their respective retirements.

He's Earl Campbell with no motor and no heart.

A complete waste of talent.

Because the CFL pays so well? If he needed a couple million dollars there are better ways for him to make that than to come up and play for a "measly" couple hundred thousand dollars a year.

yes but playing in the CFL ensures that he can play next year in the NFL. Another year off and I don't see him being able to return to any sort of playable form.

My guess isn't the money he'll get in the CFL (although every little bit helps, I guess), but that he'll at least be playing during his suspension, being ready to go when he is eligible to go back to the NFL

I meant when he came back to play for the NFL. HE came back because if not he would have had to pay the Dolphins back millions of dollars.

Obviously he didn't like the idea of doing that so he decided to come back to play.

Did any other CFL team add Williams to their negotation list? Were they allowed to do that after the Argos added him to theirs? I would have thought a poorer CFL team would also be interested in him, and that there may be a hierarchy involved like selecting players off waivers in the NHL.

Each team maintains their own neg list but a player can only be on one neg list. Its hard to say how long the Argos had him on their list - could've been for a long time, or they may have just added him recently to try to bring him up. I don't know how it works if two teams try to add a player at the same time.

I think Williams was added after he was suspended by the NFL for the year....not too sure about adding guys at the same time, but my bet is it follows the general waiver order.

and it looks like he's signed: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2461281

Maybe he got wind the previous federal government was moving to decriminalize marijuana possession.

He can smoke all the gaggers he wants up here because there's no testing policy in the CFL.

He was at the Jays game today with an Argos cap on.

Should be interesting to see what he does this season. Will he tear the league up, or will he not care?

He adds a little 'star' factor to the league, anyways.

I believe he will still be tested in accordance with the NFL rules.
