Default If you dont think we should be in Afghanistan, maybe you should be worried about this

This is one of the main reasons our soldiers are fighting these radicals.

"I can tell you that all of the circumstances that led to the London transit bombings, to take one example, are resident here now in Canada," he said.
And one of the most significant similarities would be the fact that we, like Britain (and unlike most nations with a substantial immigrant population), now have a military presence in the region. He's using circular reasoning there, essentially saying we should continue have a presence in Afghanistan because there's a threat of attack on Canadian soil because we have a presence in Afghanistan.

I'm not saying that there would be no threat of terrorism in Canada if we were to pull out of Afghanistan, and more to the point, I don't think that the threat of terrorism is just cause to pull out of Afghanistan. But the reality is that Canada is probably more at risk now--and will continue to be at risk in the future--as a result of our presence. Though I'm not really surprised that the head of CSIS would neglect to mention that.

The debate over whether we should continue to have a presence in Afghanistan should be centered around whether we have any sort of moral responsibility to continue, and whether we can effectively contribute to a positive outcome in the conflict. If the answer to both those questions is yes, then we should continue in Afghanistan. As far as I'm concerned, whether or not there's a threat of terrorist attacks here is irrelevant.

That's just CBC biased pro war crap. I won't believe anything from that source. They clearly have an agenda and don't care about fairly reporting the news.

That's the reason why I only support our presence in Afghanistan as long as the U.S. commits the same level of support there as they do Iraq. I think the fact that the U.S. is gradually pulling out of Afghanistan is a slap in the face to the other countries who are there, and putting their own civilians at risk for it.

Anybody else notice a CBC, tiny shift to the right since Harper was elected. Not angry about it, just find it interesting.

Thats why they need to get rid of any government funded news agency.

Always the appearance of government propaganda spreader.

I thought most right leaning folks like you would be ecstatic.

I can't see the government news being any worse than that controlled by big business. Both have their place when inhaled with a little common sense. Everybody has an agenda.

I would rather have national TV is is privately controlled. Too much money being lost at CBC.

Sorry I dont agree with government having control over a national news agency regardless if it benifits the right or the left.
That goes for big business aswell. There are not to many news agencies out there now adays that truly report the news without some form of bias.

I'd rather look at it as just the price of Canada doing business.

Could be. But we all CBC will vary their programs based on what government is in power. I would rather have them stay the same, and just report the news.

I'm sorry, but what do potential trouble makers here in Canada have to do with the "war" in the middle east?

I mean, jeez, let's just cut off all immigration and boot out all people that aren't white. Hell why boot them out when we can just exte...

Slippery slope gentlemen.

Any reporting HAS a bias in it. No media is neutral.
