Longevity was not a strong trait of the Ramones, was it! Nor any of the 70's punk rockers. It is amazing how many of them who lived through their decade are dieing right now.

I don't think someone dying of prostate cancer really has anything to do with his lifestyle.

Man, it's shocking how suddenly there's one of them left. Sad day.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in the Ramones and the history of punk rock in the US:

Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk
by Legs McNeil (Author), Gillian McCain (Author)

Though Britain's notorious Sex Pistols shoved punk rock into the face of mainstream America, the movement was already brewing in the U.S. in the 1960s with bands like the Velvet Underground and Iggy and the Stooges. Through hundreds of interviews with forgotten bands as well as the ones that made names for themselves--including Blondie and the Ramones--Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain chronicle punk rock history through the people who really lived it. Please Kill Me is a thrash down memory lane for those hip to punk's early years and an enlightening history lesson for youngsters interested in the origins of modern "alternative" music. From Amazon.com

It is somewhat amazing that any of these characters lived as long as they did.

I unwillingly wore my Ramones t-shirt today without having a clue of this news....sad to see only Tommy remains of the original lineup.

btw, if you guys havent seen the new Ramones documentary out in theatres, go RIGHT NOW! its extremely compeling stuff.

Rockumentarys are pretty awesome. The last one I saw was Westway to the World, the Clash's one. I should get out and see the Ramones one.
Wow another great rocker dies from the 70s. Strummer, now Johnny.

brain fart

Sad news for sure. Oh well, people who change the world or give us art never truly die.
