Default Enron executives convicted

Former Enron executives Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling were convicted Thursday of conspiracy to commit securities and wire fraud in one of the biggest business scandals in U.S. history.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/enron_tri...kxBHNlYwN0bQ--

How about this quote from Skilling:

"Obviously, I'm disappointed," Skilling told reporters outside the courthouse. "But that's the way the system works."

That's the way the system works? The system is to blame? These guys used a major corporation as their personal piggy bank and ruined thousands of people financially as a result. Oh well, that's the way the system works. These white-collar pirates should never be allowed outside a jail cell.

About freaking time. This effective death sentence for them is more than just for the number of people financially ruined by their actions.

In Canada, they probably would have gotten a fine and time served. Our stance on white collar crime is far less than the US. Research KY Ho's of ATI's insider trading and see how little he's gotten tagged with.

Then again, I have a different more lucrative job directly because of their (Skilling & Lay) actions.

Good.

Anyone that wants to learn the story behind this should rent the film Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room. Fascinating and sad stuff.

And they are still on parole until sentencing - but they were required to turn in their passports.

Didn't one of the Enron Execs off himself in the middle of a street? Parked his car and ate a 9mm slug I think.

Has anyone else seen the documentary the smartest man in the room? It's about the whole Enron rise and fall, it was great and shows how big of dinks these guys were.

The book Conspiracy of Fools was also quite informative, I found.
