Humidifier & Summer Fan
My wood floors are starting to give creaks and such when I walk on them. I reported it to my builder but I was talking to the builder's sales man and he said it was probably my humidity not being high enough.
I've got it set to 40% but it doesn't seem to ever get more than 25% or so (I turn the humidistat and listen for the click to see where it's detecting the humidity at), which I assume is too low. I tried turning on the summer fanf or a few days but didn't see any change.
So I checked the humidifier and it seems to be working ok, only it only comes on while the furnace is heating. Is that normal? Is it possible (or advisable) to hook it up so the humidifier runs while the summer fan is running so that the air can be humidified even if the heat isn't running?
I don't want to have to get a seperate console humidifier, my main floor is 1300sqft, most of it hard wood.
The upstairs doesn't seem to have a problem, it's at around 35-40%.
