Default Dell 7 Days of Deals

If you are looking for some computer deals this is a decent place for the price. Today there are a couple of monitors at a very good price.

LOL!!!!

I just bought the 19" LCD last week... I still got a good price on it though, paid $330. Today its on for $270!!! Ah well, $330 is still a good price.

Am on the phone right now with Dell to see if an adjustment can be done to my invoice (it was just shipped today).

Just got off the phone with Dell and they're going to give me a $50 credit on my account.

My outlook on life is you will never get anything if you don't ask for it... This proves my logic once again.

I bought the 19" a couple of weeks ago for $311. I thought that was a pretty good price and I like the monitor, very nice.

What inputs does it have? Is it just the SVGA and DVI?

I saw one that I think Photon had that had standard composite video as well. That would be handy to use to make a wall mounted TV for the bathroom.

I believe the 19" only has the 2 types of outputs. Not sure about the others.

How good is this monitor for programs requiring a high refresh rate (ie. games / movies)? I've stayed away from from LCD's because historically I always found the "ghosting" a little too distracting. Granted this is based upon 5 years ago, perhaps the technology has improved substantially?

It just has the VGA and DVI inputs.
I hooked it up to my Bell 6100 by DVI and it worked at 720P. Looked pretty good but I'd probably do some adjustments as I've set it up for my computer. I'll need a 15' DVI cable to use it in my computer room.

I'm not sure about how it works for games but it does have a 8 refreshment rate.

Dell is using two panels for the 1907. Apparently the Samsung panel is best, perhaps try requesting the Samsung as it is hit and miss which one you get. I lucked out.

edited to say I have the 1907 and I am referring to this. I'm not sure how the 20" works or what options it has.

I'm picky as well. A while ago I picked up an LCD that had the same panel as the 2001FP (precursor to the 2007FP). It was rated at 16ms response, the same as the 2007FP tha'ts on sale. I ended up returning it as the ghosting was too much for me. 16ms is right at the point where's it's very subjective though.

I now have the 2005FPW which has a 12ms response and I love it for games. There are faster panels out there but most of them are 6-bit rather than 8-bit (they show fewer colours and have to dither their output).

Not sure on their return policy, but if it's good (ie full refund, they pay the shipping) then it might be worth getting to see if you like.

EDIT: 20" Review: http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_UltraSh...2.html?tag=nav

I want the 30" one though.

More details Ken. The panel didn't work at 1080I and if I set the 6100 at 4x3- 2, it filled the screen. I set the panel at it's native resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Thanks Vulcan. The reason I'm thinking analog is that to run the DVI cable; I'd need about 25 feet. That can't be cheap. Plus at some point I will getting myself a true HDTV, so I would want to keep my DVI output ready for that. (of course converted to HDMI)

Thanks for checking though.

Your welcome ken, but I checked it out for my own interests. I may use the panel with my DVI as on my TV I seem to get just as good a picture with component cables.

I can't decide!!

I want to get the 2007FP to replace my 21" Dell Trinitron D1626HT - but I don't know if that's the right move to make.

My trinitron has been rock solid for years now, and I'd hate to switch to something that'll have a worse picture.

It doesn't help that there is a time limit of tonight to this sale either!

Is that laptop a good machine? I'm going to need one soon and i'm wondering if I should just take advantage of the sale and get that one?

Pros: I agree with some users here that the 710m has a so much to offer in terms of power, speed, and stability. I mean, for the price I paid, it works as good or yes, even BETTER than its Sony or IBM lenovo counterparts. This is my fourth laptop and I am impressed. Also, the screen display on this baby is oh so beautiful!
Cons: Extended battery sticks out at the back, which looks weird.
Does its job more than expected

Pros: I dont understand what people expect this under $1000 machine to do -- control global climatic change ? For a sub-1K laptop, it the 710m is excellent and performs even better than my brother's $2,400 Sony, my girlfriend's $1800 Fujitsu, and my buddy's $1,600 Lenovo. When I say better, I mean faster and smoother. I have a two-month old HP Pentium D desktop but I was able to play Quake 3, Doom 3, and DFExtreme easily on my 710m as I did on my HP. My point is, for its price, the Dell Inspiron 710 is a very good laptop. I would not hesitate to buy it again.
Cons: The left and right buttons on the touchpads are kinda noisy.
A good-valued strong machine!

Pros: Strong, fast, efficient, stable, handsome, portable, user-friendly, durable, solid, energy-efficient, reliable.
Cons: Outdated power adapter. Some small keys.
Great compact package

Pros: Overall compact design - I got tired of lugging a heavy 15 inch widescreen around. I needed something small and light, but that could still handle a full load of business applications. This really fit the bill. If (small) size matters, this is a good fit.
Cons: The shift key and the period take some getting used to. As noted by others, may not be the best fit for someone with large hands.
Very portable, great for people on the move

Pros: GOOD SIZE FOR A TRAVELLER NICE SLEEK DESIGN VERY THIN AND LIGHT APPLICATIONS WORK PERFECTLY FINE, GOOD INTERNET CONNECTITVITY
Cons: COULD USE A BIGGER VIDEO CARD MEOMRY FROM 64MB TO 256MB SHOULD PUT A X1400 GRAPHICC CARD TO BE APPRECIATE IT MORE SHOULD MAKE IT INTEL DUO CORE ALSO MAKE THE SCREEN LARGER TO 13 INCHES

Cons: cramped keyboard
way too small for serious work!

Pros: small! lightweight, Great dell service, no probelems on return, the screen was nice for movies. very sturdy, ok keyboard, the left side was a tad squisy but no worse than my old Dell 600m and not really any worse than a z60M.
Cons: the keyboard was WAY too small...the period and comma are 1/2 normal key size, which means if you are a fast typer your pinky will keep missing the period! Some have said you get used to it, but when you go to a normal keyboard then to the laptop it takes hours to get used to it. The screen was too small...hard to read the fonts, nice concept but too small
Wow! What a great machine!!!
Submitted by Allen Eklund on 3/26/2006 3:54:55 AM
Pros: The screen is very clear and easy on the eyes. The price is hard to beat for the value.
Cons: Some keys are undersized (see the editor's note). However, I did not find it to be a big issue.
Beautiful Little Computer
Submitted by kubasic on 3/26/2006 3:54:55 AM
Pros: Long battery life, Great speakers, DVD drive on site, SD card reader! Highly portable
Cons: Glossy screen is easy to get dirty, A tad bit heavy with the larger battery pack
Great Laptop
Submitted by mmv253 on 3/19/2006 3:54:39 AM
Pros: great mobility, great speed, great look
Cons: The price could be better, but its still worth it!
