Bandwagon Preachers
I am a fan of both Alberta hockey teams.
Growing up in both cities, I've had the awesome privilage of cheering for 2 home teams and one great Province.
I am living in Edmonton now, and trying to watch both teams like hawks since they are both contenders.
The problem is, is that the fans are so different. The Calgary fans are awesome and the Edmonton fans only cheer when the Oilers score or make the playoffs.
It sucks.
I have always been proud of the history of the Oiler's hockey club and the awesome Flames fan base.
Being in the middle I have varied opinions on some of the topics I've read.
When I lived in Calgary, I never heard anything about Edmonton and how ****ty it is and how their team sucks and what not. I heard the usual razzing during the Battle of Alberta, but never anything nasty. Until now. This site is riddled with it, but it's cause it's play-offs and The Flames might play the Oilers next. So yeah, razz all you want!
Now I live in Edmonton, and all I hear is how Calgary can't get over the rivalry, and how Calgary thinks they're better, and how Edmonton is way better, and on and on.
It's only gotten worse. The funny thing is, is that no one here has ANY faith in their team. I try to explain that to them and they say they don't get loud at regular season games, because they haven't made it in a while. How stupid is that?
Get this......"Calgary fans are bandwagoners, the Red Mile is for loser teenagers and guys who don't know hockey. They couldn't name 5 guys on their team. The guys that go there just started to be fans because of it."
Have you heard.................Someone should tell Forbes!!
The Copper Kilometre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about bandwagoners now! I give up, the fans here suck!
Anyways, I am still a fan of both teams, but I am a bigger fan of watching a game in the Saddledome with the fans there, instead of the pillbox watching a silent film with a bunch of corpses.
Good Luck next game Calgary!!!
