In a deal that was bandied about for close to two weeks, the Hawks and Caps today closed a deal that has made the Caps a high favorite to win the 3rd CPHL Stanley Cup and the Hawks a favorite within 2 years.

The Caps recieved Paul Mara, Taylor Pyatt and ECHLer James Howard. The Hawks received Jonathon Cheechoo, Alvaro Montoya and a 2nd round pick in the 2005 Entry Draft.

Capitals were pleased to add Mara and Pyatt to now have what is likely the best depth team in the CPHL. Well unless you want to count players who haven't played in years lining up for other teams. But for actual hockey players who can presently lace them up the Capitals depth strategy which carried them to first place last year is once again in place.

And rumour has it the Capitals aren't quite done with another deal in the works!!!!!!

Well my record of achievement last year in part due to a large number of trades(many of which were considered decent ones on my part) led to being named GM of the Year and best 1st year GM.

Not an award you are likely to win by sitting on your arse, never being on MSN, not returning emails, rarely posting and making one or two trades a year where you pigeon a newbie.

Capitals are looking to continue to be the most active GM in the league and to set an example of how to play the game by actually playing it!!!! That's a record we are proud of here in Washington.

Chicago wins this trade IMO. Montoya's play down the road will probably decide who wins this deal so I could be wrong. Personally I think Mara is over rated and would gladly take a chance on Montoya. I'm a closet Yotes fan and rank Morris ahead of Mara from what I saw last year. Mara looks like he has all the tools but no toolbox

Washington does get a good dman this upcoming year so I guess they accomplish want they want as well.

Whatever Cheese gets for Montoya when he trades him down the road (I'll give you a month) will be a bigger factor than Montoya's play :P

Mara being overrated would be a GOOD thing
