Default "Great White" manager sentanced in Night Club Fire

A former rock-band manager whose pyrotechnics caused a nightclub fire that killed 100 people was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison.

I'm not sure what to think. Obviously he didn't intend on hurting anybody; but 4 years for 100 deaths.......

Edit- I should really check my spelling before posting.

I just read that as well. I agree with the judge. The nightmares the guy has for the rest of his life will be punishment enough. Every time I hear Desert Moon, I think about the tragedy (that's the song Great White were playing when it happened).

I'll be interested to see what the bar owners get during thier trial. 2 counts for each death each, I don't understand that?

I blame this one squarely on the owners of the club. Sure, he didn't have a permit to light pyrotechnics, but what kind of idiot coats a place (especially a nighclub that probably allows smoking or something) in a highly flammable foam?

I think the two counts of death for each person is because they're probably being charges once for manslaughter and once for criminal negligence causing death... I think in such a case they'll only be convicted of one per death, but it's up to the court to determine which one... I may be totally off my rocker though.

I understand that the victims of the people killed are in great pain, but do they truly have to be *******s about the whole thing, such as shouting "what do you think about your son now!" at the defendants mother? I mean it's not like this guy is some mass murderer and when he went to go light the pyrotechnics thought "hey maybe if I light this it'll kill 100 people, GOODIE!".

I don't know that 4 years is scot free... Besides, the managers of the club should have told him no to the pyrotechnics. They're the ones who knew the building was flammable. Guy goes into how many clubs and does the same thing with no problems?

Thanks. Figured it out now. I thought people were talking on topic.... I keep forgetting people don't do that here.

He was negligent and stupid to light pyrotechnics indoors, but the comments of some of the families just propagate all the suffering and hatred.

"Now it's her turn to suffer, just like we've been suffering because of her son." (said one victim's mother to this guy's mother)

This is not an evil guy. He's just a guy who tried to promote his band and make an entertaining show. His conscience will haunt him for the rest of his life. He did ask the nightclub owners permission to use the pyrotechnics however, so he wasn't totally irresponsible. The burden falls on the nightclub owners if it's true that they greenlighted it knowing they had the flammable foam installed.
