Default CP Phone experts: I need a new phone!

I'm looking at getting a new cellphone, and am considering the Motorola Razr v3c or the Motorola 710.

The main things that appeal to me are the bluetooth (and the profile of the Razr). Anything I should look out for, or something different to consider? I know the Razr is hyped, but is it any good? How about the extra "service" plans that Telus sells, are they worthwile?

Go to http://www.cnet.com/ and check the reviews there.

I've never found the service plans useful. On the other hand, if you're one to lose things easily, then it might be handy.

710 is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH better.

I have one. The Razr is a fataing POS.

Not durable, easier to break. + the V710 has an expandable memory slot so you can play Mp3s on it. It's by far the best cellphone I've ever had. Perfect reception. Great software, good camcorder and screens.

As someone who works for Telus, I'd say we probably get more complaints about the software in the v710. Everyone has a different experience though.

I work at a TELUS dealership.

The V3c is a much much better phone then the V710. For starters the OBEX (object exchange) is enabled on the V3c. This means that you can put your own ring tones and images on the phone without paying for them. OBEX also allows you to trade ring tones and images -via blue tooth- with other phones that have OBEX enabled. The v710 does not have OBEX.

We also get tons and tons of v710 phones back with charging issues because of the crappy three prong charger that motorola loves. Luckly motorola uses a mini usb for charging the V3c which so far has worked much much better. The V3c is also a EVDO phone which means that anything that requires the data network is like 10 times quicker to download then on the v710. The RAZR is also more firmly built then the v710. Lastly as Fire Fly said the software is much more stable in the V3c versus the v710 no white screens showing up or the phone freezing.

I have a 710 and have had some problems with it. The keys stopped working and I have to get it sent away for several weeks and eventually got a new one.

My contract is up really soon, and I think I will be going with the V3c next time around.
