Calgary Exhibition & Stampede 2006 thread
Yes folks, we're just a little over a month away from this year's edition of the greatest outdoor show on Earth. Just wondering how many people are going, etc. Sort of a hype thread I guess.
I'm pretty excited because this will be my first time going to the rodeo, just grabbed my tickets yesterday. I'll probably go check out Sam Roberts at the Coke Stage and hang around Nashville North a bit too.

Totally avoiding it as usual.
Crappy bands, overpriced fatty food, horse ****?
No thanks.

Anyone have a link for the bands that will be playing at other venues during Stampede (other than Nashville North or the Coca Cola Stage)?

Greatest week of the year to work downtown, as long as you have a cool boss (even if you don't).
50% at best work efficiency, free breakfast and lunch. Various company partiesand, if you are lucky and feel like it after the fomal parties you're expected to attend, leave for drinking whenever and wherever.
As for the Grounds, still go down at least once, no matter if nothing changes.

My attendance every year depends very much on the "non-country" musical acts...so hopefully they have some worthwhile bands playing at the coke stage.

Someone already posted the lineup a while ago, it was full of Nickleback sounding bands and some little fruit from Canadian Idol.

We just might be the only city in the world where a bar trumpets the fact that it is "completely paved".

I'm looking forward to the partying and endless hangover. A number of us are going on the BustLoose pub crawl the first saturday. I'll be spending an inordinate amount of time in Nashville North as well.
A couple of years ago there was an Excel spreadsheet which had all the events listed on a daily basis. Anyone see something like that for this year?

Oh man you guys are making me sad! Im not gonna be around for stampede this year. I've definately taken part in the stampede for many years but last year was the first time i actually got really into it, i bought some boots from alberta boot, an official wrangler cowboy hat, the chekered shirt, and the leather holster that holds your beer so you can double fist and have a fresh one waiting to be opened, now its all just collecting dust....single tear

Your best bet it to go to Pollstar.com, and just look for concerts in Calgary.

Yeah I read the line up for Nashville north; it’s hurt and lame but more me its all about the Rangeland Derby, the midway has gotten worse over the last couple of years

That seriously sounds like a line from a country song. Now, sing it with some twang.
