CRAP!!!(*#&$ I just got a speeding ticket
alright..I need to know how the family will find out. the ticket says I can pay at a registry or court so thats cool. But I have a feeling this is the elast of my worries, how does the insurance company find out and then notify the people who pay it [parents]? Should I expect a letter in the mail?
In Calgary, don't bother asking how, its just a typical speeding ticket

if your just going to pay for it, go downtown to the court before the date and plea, if your a student tell them that and you dont want insurance to go up and stuff and they should reduce it and at the very least take off the demerits. be prepared to wait a bit though, line can be pretty long

Why don't you just own up that you got a speeding ticket. Might be something that keeps you from speeding in the future.
Don't hide from things man...stand up and take your licks, you really only have yourself to blame for it.

I will, its just the time to figure out how it works. If they'll find out by mail, of course I'll have to let them know. But I'll keep quiet to save my ass if they won't be notified by insurance or by a letter from the CPS

It's my nation too. I prefer lunatic drivers off our streets. Especially ones that have to answer to mommy and dadddy.
Zero sympathy.
I hope your insurance soars.

Guy gets a speeding ticket and all of a sudden he's a lunatic driver.....dude, thats harsh. I guess there is something to the saying that the older you get, the crankier you get....early onset alzheimers perhaps?

Try your best to get out of it, go plead to the court for no demerits, and to lower it and more time to pay. If you can get away with it great! Weaseling out of things is what separates us from the animals.... except the weasel
Don't let these old farts make you think you should go fess up like some puss

Is the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a responsible fashion as well.

I believe the term you were looking for there was 'motor car'

Well, I took my Learner's on a horse. Back then, in the pre-PETA days you could blame all sorts o' things on critters.
Just 'fess up and learn good driving habits from here on in.

I agree with Wookie, Rakiet. You can wait until the court date and ask the prosecutor if he/she would be willing to drop the ticket down to a fine without demerits. They sometimes do this if you have a sqeaky clean record and no demerits. I have done this on one occassion.

Da yout' transgressed. Own up to the folks and go from there. Certainly nowhere near being an unspeakable transgression (although all the same not the sort of thing he should get into a habit of), but it is indeed a screw-up deserving of an own-up.
Likely sets him up well vis a vis relations with the folks. You'd want to think most parents want the offspring to own up.
Oh, and one last thing: Obey traffic rules.

I know on my insurance one ticket didn't do much for my rates. Just watch out for additional tickets; keep it within the speed limit. It's those additional ones that will cost you big bucks.
I get the odd speeding ticket every now and then. (Last one was in 1999 I think.) I just pay them, and move on.

Reggie's comments have nothing to do with being old and have everything to do with being responsible. You got caught speeding, tell your parents because they'll find out somehow so better to hear it from you, pay your fine and move on. If you don't want another fine, don't speed. Really simple.
