Says it'd Karl Rove who planted them, without a doubt. The Democrats are too "dumb" to do it themselves.
Oh, and P.J. O'Rourque, the past publisher of National Lampoon, is a staunch republican.

I was watching Crossfire the day this document business came out. The first thing out of anyone's mouth was something like "I can't believe the Republicans would stoop this low and plant these documents" from the guy on the left of the table (the Democrat). The guys on the other side of the table, including Novak that day I think, were sort of like "hmm, I don't know about that". They are always shouting and blustering back and forth on that show, but they weren't surprised or incredulous at the suggestion.
I don't know who did what, but I did think it was interesting that normally raving Republicans wouldn't even raise an eyebrow at the suggestion.

Isn't it a little spooky that a guy who starts a thread claiming he's not a conspiracy theorist comes back within minutes with a second thread that seems to confirm it?
Have you got a link to the O'Rourke comments?

No link. He was on Bill Maher last night and said that. And its not my conspiracy theory, its P.J. O'Rourque's. Frankly I don't give a sh*t about Bush's service record or the documents generated to support it one way or another. What happened 30 years ago does not matter in this race. Leave it in the past and focus on where America is going, not on where eother candidate has been.

To take the conspiracy theory one step further, I think Karl Rove forged the documents, released them, then the news came out. Once it became apparent that the documents were forged, he blamed it on the Democrats for a lame attempt to slam Bush, and thus helping Bush in the polls. Sneaky lil' runt, he is.

That one takes the cake.
Not only did he forge documents, he did so knowing they would be proven forgeries and that CBS would run with them anyway?
Good one.
