Default A month to remember

10 years and... now 17 days since the Winnipeg Jets have played hockey in the NHL. April 28th, 1996, the Jets lost the Detroit Red Wings in game 6, the last game ever for the Winnipeg Jets.

I remember very fondly going to the old barn.. the huge portrait of the queen... yellow paint everywhere... the dancing hot dog and terrible cartoon renderings of the Jets players on the aging scoreboard. Ill miss the White Noise the most... the amazing White Out... and some of the greatest hockey fans on Earth. Still miss you a lot Jets.

God how can a hockey team that hasn't existed in 10 years still get me choked up.

It's actually 17 days until it's been 10 years... But I catch your drift.

If it's 17 days before Christmas, was Christmas a year and 17 days ago? That's what I thought.

You're wasting your keystrokes. The White Out doesn't realize how bad he murders the english language and makes it difficult to understand what he's saying. You misunderestimate his ability to communicate in clearly unconfusing manners.

If the Flames left today would you be over it in 10 years? I know I wouldn't. I'd still be bitter. And there is no way in hell I'd cheer for some red, white and blue Houston Thrust or whatever lame name they decide on. If I even bothered to cheer for the NHL I'd cheer for the relocated Flames to be a complete failure and for the owner to end up homeless.

I'd probably have a much more productive life if nothing else....

Yes I would, and i'd probably have moved to whatever city has 'em. Dead serious. I'm a U.S. citizen so if The Flames moved. Nothing would stop me from moving along with them.

I'm born and raised in Calgary but I don't like this town that much...

Take that "White out!" Either totally uproot your life from your career, job, family, freinds, etc etc etc or suck it up!!

All i'm saying is that instead of crying about it, i'd do something about it. Calgary is just the city I was born and raised in. I don't plan on living here the rest of my life, and quite frankly that'd be a boring life. Hell even as of now i've looked seriously to move to Arizona, and even as far as Hawaii (If it weren't so expensive, and there were actually places available to live in)

Calgary will always be home, but i'd jump at the chance to live somewhere else. As long as I can watch Flames hockey via Center ice and chances are i'd be able to watch more televised games on Center ice then I could living in Calgary.

You were born and raised in Calgary, lived there your entire life (22 years?) and you have nothing to stop you from moving?

That's pretty sad Jordon.

Please don't move to Arizona. Any where but here. There are enough mindless dolts in this State, we don't need any more. In fact, we're trying to export them, so if you move here, you'll likely just be crated up and shipped to another State. So please save us the trouble, and move elsewhere to begin with! I hear Kansas is nice!

well I was living in Winnipeg at the time, and it was sad. I did attend the 2nd last game at the old barn

lived in Edmonton at a time when they were rumoured to be on the way out of town

moved to Winnipeg in time for the Jets to leave

moved back in Calgary at a time when dowboy ended every article with "...to Portland"

that was a depressing 8 year cycle

I think this thread would be more appropriate at a Coyotes board considering they are the hockey team formerly known as the Jets.

Hell, if you post there, you'll probably get a couple dozen people begging you to take them back.
