LAST DAY OF PRACTICE FOR EDMONTON
It was another off day for the Edmonton Oilers who spent the mourning in the training room lifting weights and riding bikes.
"Its been a long season to get to this point and the players are all getting eager to get back to business." Quoted Oilers GM Whalen pictured in the middle working out with players Jamie Wright and Karla Rachunek.
The two teams only met twice this season. The first game Edmonton won in overtime. The second game Detroit handed Edmonton a humiliating home ice spanking as they padded there stats with a 9-2 trouncing. Detroit who will be without the services of several key players during the series. Steve Konowalchuk is still a month away as he continues to rehabilitate his injured knee. Rookie sensation Marek Svatos is lost for the remainder of the season. Jozeph Stumple who was acquired at the trade deadline is also not expected to return to the lineup anytime soon. David Vyborny who had scored 22 goals this season was seen limping around the dressing room and says he should be ready to go by game 2. Earlier in the day Detroit called up Kyle Wellwood who will see limited ice time on the teams 4th line.
