He was dealt to the Eskimos in that 100% legitimate Davis/Maas trade/loan thingy..

Likely one of the classiest people professional athlete you will ever see. Great character depth move. He can still toss the pill if called upon. No more UH-Oh when Hank goes down (knocking on wood here)

Oh great. The #1 All time Calgary killer is now a Stamp. Is Darren Flutie on his way as well?

What the hell?

Why don't CFL teams just trade rosters before every season? It's like every player in the league has played for every team in the league. It's kind of a joke, isn't it?

I'm not a big football fan so I don't know what other people think about this, but I think it's kinda ridiculous.

Will he even show up or is he gonna retire whether he was in Edmonton or Calgary not wanting to be a backup?

I like it for the reasons mentioned above...I think also at play here is that he could be a (good) coach (QB Coach to start) down the road here in Calgary, after a year or two with the club....unless he wants to do broadcasting.

But he's a smart and well polished football guy who can still play at a high level...with still a good arm and quick release, he can do some damage thanks to having some talented recievers here.

Well the size of the league definatley means some players play for almost everyone, but in terms of player movement there isn't a ton in the off-season. Trades are somewhat rare, though some free agent movement is typical. Nothing out of the ordinary though.

Danny Mac's stats from last year:
Passing - 55.8%
Yards - 2544
TDs - 11
INTs - 18

I think this shows the faith the Stamps have in Gesser/Wimprine/Harris more than anything. I'm not a huge fan of the trade...while the Stamps essentially gave up nothing for him, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable putting him in if Burris goes down. Granted, throwing to Copeland and Lewis instead of Yeast and Flick will make him better, I'm just not sure that he can keep up with the game.

McManus as a 3rd stringer to mentor Wimprine makes more sense to me...I'd rather have a guy realize his potential coming off the bench than a guy trying to realize his past (way past) glory.

Good signing, he's definately a better backup then Gesser, and has a way stronger arm.

I met Nik Lewis at Schanks North on Saturday night, and when asked about this trade, he said along the lines of 'he'll be good for helping out Gesser'. Take that as you want

I am not a huge fan of Danny Mac but I think he can be effective in the role that Calgary wants him to play. He could come in and fill in short term if Hank went down for a bit and probably be better in a short term role than either of the young guys because he would need little to no time to feel comfortable. If Henry goes down for an extended period then I think the team, and now any team losing its top QB, would be in trouble. Danny Mac should help the young guys and even Hank improve which is never a bad thing.
