The new goggles also do nothing.

The lag isn't related to the size of the sig images, it's a server side issue.
Most of those sig images are super small, smaller than your avatar file size even.
There's also an option in the User CP to disable displaying signatures entirely.

I did not start it! It was otto...
But yeah it's a little out of hand.. I think I'm going to setup a script for mine so only one shows at a time but it's a random one.

Uh, the last one I noticed was evman's. If there's one thing that annoys me on a message board is a ######edly long LOLLLLLLLLL that forces me to scroll sideways to read the well thought out post before or after the moron.
Long links are forgivable. Long sigs **** me off more than long lols.

These bar things are kind of annoying. I don't know if people find my AC work annoying, but I honestly don't care to know if someone is a toilet user or what kind of beer they drink. Hopefully this just dies out on it's own a little bit.
